• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How about one non-Bronze Age Text with no mention of trilobite?

That’s just a badly done counterfeit of the original Bronze Aged Text.

They do have one thing in common; both are flawed to have missed this.

It's inevitable, really. For every mutation, there exists its inverse. So if AGCT -> AGGT represents a loss of information, then AGGT -> AGCT must represent a gain.

No no! That would violate the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics! Both must be a loss!!!111!!!(e^pi-pi)/20!!!11!

(Ruh roh... did I just create another monster? Oh, no, that would be adding information... phew.)

Hah, your logic is just so awful. Imagine if textbooks did this.

"Hey uhhh, this new textbook with updated research is wrong because my old one doesn't have this information/contradicts X"

And what does "this new textbook with updated research" say about the trilobites on Day Five of the earth's existence?

We can argue about what constitutes a "mechanism" if you like. The point is that a scenario where a mass extinction leads to numerous adaptive radiations in the following centuries is not the same where many small changes accumulate over time to produce not only new species, but new genera, families and higher taxa as well.
Agreed. At the very least it's faster and more universal. I was just musing, as always :)

Though the two are certainly not mutually exclusive.

Hmm, actually, what proportion of major taxa (like, families and above) have demonstrably emerged in post-extinction radiations? How (if at all) does this change as we go to more and more inclusive taxa?

(Once again my thought processes are outputting too many questions :D)

Nothing, your religion is a fairly tale with no support. Many christians don't have a problem with this and others, like you, defend it so vehemently because it's so integrated into your own identity that any piece of data that so much as indirectly contradicts it is an attack on you.
