  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey,

I have finally met a friend from CF in person:thumbsup: . Yesterday I had to go to SE Louisiana and while there I meet with SR’s on Dr. Steve. Dr. Steve gave me a tour of the Church he pastors. We then we went to a local restaurant for supper. I had Crawfish Etouffee, one of several Cajun dishes that I would not eat outside of Louisiana. I don't remember what Dr. Steve ate, but it looked good.

Dr. Steve and I had supper together and chatted for several hours. It was great visit. I hope I can meet more CF friends in the future.

In Christ,
Kenith

I have to say - I'm a tad envious. I'd really enjoy the opportunity to meet folks from SR.

I also have a question - why would you not eat crawfish etouffee outside of Louisiana? Just curious.

The general opinion is that only cajuns know how to cook such a dish properly!
I too would feel pleased to meet CF folks! Though I'm Texan I had an aunt that was Louisiana french and we visited Morgan City often, though I didnt eat much of their foods, especially crawfish! Whew!
What a treat that was Kenith to meet and visit with Dr. Steve!

Cool beans bro -

I had the opportunity to meet Roger (aka Elder) and his wife personally earlier this summer as well. Had a great time and visit... One day we should have a banquet or festival or something - that would be cool.....

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit also, and it would be great if more of us could get together some time.

Great idea there! Would Cyg and pjw come from across the pond? Bring the family together!!

I would love to meet , and a visit to the States would be cool , especially Boston , or Northampton Massachusetts,

(I live in Northampton UK , near birth place of William Carey )

I have a close friend who went to Grand Rapids and visited New York last year (he stayed with Reformed brethren) he loved it!

What we need is an organiser ......... WOODY! :D

From my limited experience most Americans are welcoming and kind.

Personal exp

I once ran away from home when I was about 13 or 14 , I hitched across East Anglia to the coast and I remember it was about 2 in the morning this car pulls over and a guy from one of the USA Air-bases offered me a lift , he took me about 100 miles further than his own home (I know because he called in for a coffee on route) he kept calling me "bud" :D I will never forget his kindness , I only remember his nickname "Corky" , I often wonder where he is now ...... that was over 30 years ago!

Enjoyed the time with Kenith. And I ordered Seafood Pasta (shrimp and crawfish).

I thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship and an opportunity to show him around the church.

A few months back Nobdysfool visited Baton Rouge (he was a little less adventurous in sampling Cajun cooking). Great visit as well.

Let me know if any of you get this way. It really is fun to meet face to face.

Hello Edie,

Of course I suck the heads. That is where lots of the flavour is.

For a good crawfish boil you need lots of seasoned crawfish, plenty of cold beer, good friends, Cajun and/or Zydeco music and lots of time.

Joe and I went to N.O. about a week before my sister's wedding (15 years ago, my how time flies). Anyhow we spent a good portion of the week eating - without question, some of the best food I've ever had - including the crawfish! (although only Tom and Joe sucked the heads - Emily and I declined) There's a local restaurant here that serves them - but they just aren't the same as you can get in Louisiana.

Get some live crawfish and lots of Zatarain's seasoning and boil them at home.
