  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

As this article indicates, it might soon be possible for men to surgically receive an artificial womb: Surgery Could Give Men Wombs of Their Own Within 5 Years

How many of the men of this thread, particularly those who identify as being pro-life, would be willing to have such a womb surgically implanted if it would mean that they could then carry fetuses that would otherwise be aborted to term. Why or why not?

All men who who consider abortion to be murder
will volunteer to save a baby from abortion by investing
in 9 months of effort, to save a life. Plus additional costs.
Is a life worth 1.3 million or ten times more? Plus nine months.
All empathetic people should start saving their money.

Men don't have wombs.

Correct, but if you read the OP (apparently you did not) it might soon be possible to surgically implant a womb in a man.

Yes I read the article. Men do not have wombs.

If this was some rare deformity I could see your inquiry as valid. However, this is artificial.

lolololololololol It is nice to read what something is about, before answering it.

I would think my body would not have the adaptations to match with having the womb, including for expanding the belly to hold my adopted baby. There could be a major project and expense for providing hormones necessary, and other female body things. I think God made ladies for this, not us guys.

Even so . . . the question basically means > would I carry a child, if I could get a womb and function to keep the child alive through birth.

If I could do it safely . . . why not?

Well . . . there would be all the fertilized eggs in fertility clinics, who could be adopted . . . purchased. But then, of course, buying all those babies could encourage clinics to produce more than they consider themselves to now need. So, guys buying and carrying embryos could result in ever more embryos being produced for profit.

So, there could be an issue of if it would help reduce the number of unborn people being killed. But if my carrying someone could help, why not?

But who would get the baby? The child might have something to say about me being his or her parent :)

The OP never claimed that men have wombs. It discussed that it might be possible to implant wombs.

So? I had cararact surgery this year. My lens are now artificial. What is wrong with that.

Possible. Why not use AI females instead. More cost effective and no gender reassignment surgery.

I'm glad you did this and it was successful. Correcting a current ailment has nothing to do with emplacing artificial wombs. What you had done with your eyes is akin to a man getting his prostate operated on.

Now if you had toes or fingers put in your eye sockets instead of the cataract surgery, then your example would be valid.

If science can create an artificial womb, then the more rational procedure would be to maintain it in a lab environment rather than implanting it in a man.
Or hook it up into a cow or some other breeding organism.

Cow babies? Sounds worse than being a test-tube baby.

Oh brave new world...

My guess is there aren't that many men that would actually want to be pregnant, especially with some stranger's baby.
Agreed, yet many men who would refuse to carry a fetus that would otherwise be aborted are willing to work to stop a woman who, for whatever reason, desire to have an abortion.

That would be a sin against the child. The child can't be asked if they would mind being the first born of a man. To be purposely made an oddity requires permission I would think.
The first test tube baby was said to be an oddity. Today it is commonplace.

Is it a wrong allowing parents to have children when they would otherwise be unable to conceive?
Human life shouldn't be treated like crops of barley. Also, how many are denied life for the one that is not?
