Meet and Greet??

Has CF ever had a meet and greet type event? Just curious but I think it would be interesting if we could all meet sometime and have a weekend celebration, In unity of course :]
Maybe a fairgrounds or somewhere that we could camp and grill and share testimonies and such. Anyone else interested?

You could all fly out here to Reno. You'd have to stay away from the casinos, though.

It's been discussed in communities at least a little. Among our Orthodox community, a number of us have met up with others when and where we could.

I think it was brought up on CF once but I don't think it went anywhere.

It could be interesting. I'm actually wondering if situations where feathers might tend to be ruffled might not be better between folks if they met in person.

I'd love to meet folks from CF. But I don't really travel much, at least not right now.

I think it would be awesome as we could make a small vacation out of it and maybe have a live band or two and some good preaching and good food and fellowship.

I think it would be awesome. Though you know I have to say the preaching would have to be either carefully arranged to focus on universal beliefs - or else ... nah. I think best not to stir up disagreement.

I had a second there thinking about the music. I like many kinds of music, but I'm trying to learn Byzantine chant so I listen pretty much exclusively to that. It sort of disrupts my inner music to listen to other things (I listened to a parody of Bohemian Rhapsody the other day to discuss with a friend and it has played havoc getting it out of my head lol.)

But anyway, my thought THEN was how cool it would be if we could hear different examples of different kinds of music. That could be edifying for all.

So for a second my thoughts went to preaching. But no ... I think it would stir too many folks up (in a wrong way) to hear preaching distinctly opposed to what they believe.

So better I think to stay with what we all can agree is good, true, pure, edifying. And there is much, after all.

(Sorry for the convoluted glimpse into my thought process lol.)

I bet where there is a will, There is a way, and we come together for the good and maybe all donate the proceeds from a dinner to a central cause like abused children or some other ministry of CF's choosing ? IDK but many possibilities :]

Doesn't even have to be a one-time thing.

But if you're serious, it would need to be figured out if it's "official" (in which case need some permissions by the site owners, and since there's possibility for liability and what-have-you ... that might not be doable). But it seems like organizing unofficial meets could be possible. I know a different forum (different topic altogether) has a board set up for meets by state, and members organize larger meets once a year or so.

But it really probably needs to go by someone high up before discussing too deeply.

Btw, the possibility of secured camping would probably help some folks be able to attend.
