conversely... why is it never okay to discuss race? and if you do, why does it have to be "racist"?

It doesn't have to be racist but we are discussing bias sooooooooo that would mean some form of racism.

is the premise of this thread not that black people are being discriminated against and vilified for "looting" whilst white people are being excused for the same thing?

Uhh no the premise is, there is a media bias. That yes just happens to be about race.

And how does that equate to being a victim? Ihear "liberal media" 50 ways to Sunday but never here conservative victim mentality? Why not?

The more I see this, the angrier I get. Subtle racism gets under my skin just as badly as the overt forms. No apology is necessary, though. That is just what black people have come to expect in a nation where stereotypes still dictate perceptions.

Subltle racism is far worse and prevalent than overt and more damaging.

sorry, I was speaking more generally than this specific case. any time conservatives mention race, they are accused of being racist. if you oppose discrimination in the form of affirmative action, you are racist. if you oppose welfare programs that offer perverse incentives and are destroying minority communities, you are racist. etc

well, I would agree that there is a victim mentality amongst conservatives when it comes to treatment by the media. I would also argue that it is justified. well, it is in the UK, but as I have little first-hand knowledge of the American broadcast media other than Fox, I can not comment.

however, conservatives are not arguing that they are discriminated by society, or proposing expensive social programs and preferential treatment for conservatives. we just gripe and moan about it amongst ourselves for the most part.
