Why do you choose to spell it "Moslems" instead of the more traditional "Muslims"?

Moslem is more traditional. Muslim is what some now use.

It comes up every now and then as an issue. So there's been a few threads over the years I've done just to explain it.

The last time was here

I also still use gaol, despite Australians largely adopting the American 'jail'.

I noticed that the very first post by a Muslim in the thread you directed me to, stated that the literal translation of the Arabic is "Muslim."

Is it your intention to offend Muslims by using "Moslem" instead?

Just to help you a little

the transliteration of the word مسلم‎ is "Muslim" not "Moslem", so it is better to keep it like that.

Why you say "Al-Lah" with a hyphen is very confusing, dont know why you dont just type Allah, there is no benefit of you putting the hyphen except it wasting an extra key stroke for you

I dont have anything else to say

regards

Not all Muslms would agree, that is why I say members of the Islamic community so there is no confusion.

Of course frenchy, but you implied by the question that you think he is trying to offend. Cmon.

There's quite a number of atheists trying all manner of off-topic argument to help defend Islam through distraction.

They're probably not even aware of the forces compelling them to do so.

Honestly the whole thing is meaningless because it is not inspired Word of God and now it is said that only "certain" people can understand, what is the point of having every child line up in a row and receit it until they have memorized the entire thing. It is even about understanding it they just want it memorized.

Its because its magic. By the way all the Muslims preachers have talked they think if you read the Koran its magical power will suck you in, willing or not.

Getting back to the OP there's words that are meaingless (to most) in the Koran.

The best explanation for this is that one has to be specially trained to understand them, which to me smacks of circular logic. And it's further undermined that the specially trained people can't agree what the words mean.

It's also confused by the claim that the Koran is clear.

Further, those here advocating that we must read it in Arabic to understand it properly have themselves no understanding of these words... so they're refuting themselves. (That's aside from the problem that the Arabic in the Koran is not the same as Arabs sepak today, anyway - apparently the nuances are still all there)

There is a contradiction in Islamic ideas regarding the Koran.

Moslems say that the Koran is 'clear' and can be understood BUT there are meaningless words in the Koran and that their god al-Lah has reserved the meaning of these words to himself.

How can it be both clear and unclear?
