Helloo! Thank you so much! Yes, I've looked at the other forums and threads, and everything looks wonderful! I hope to contribute more as time goes on! and I will definitely check that thread out! although I actually go to an English service that's mostly foreigners and Koreans born or raised part of their time outside of Korea, so a lot of the songs I know are actually by English-speaking singers and bands. But I would love to give you some music in Korean and in Spanish?

Your welcome; the English speaking songs would be fine; are there any local English speaking Korean Christian bands that you are aware of? What are the favorite praise choruses that your church sings as part of the services? Thanks!:)

I just find it interesting, anyway. If one thinks outside the box, one might conclude that what Westerners and people from the East regard as art and writing respectively might not always be identical.

And regarding the background and context of Eastern art, there is a sense in which the oneness of knower and object in the aesthetic continuum raises questions in the minds of Western observers: where exactly is the boundary between art and writing and even religion?
Well, of course. Not everyone will think of art the same way. Definitely not across countries and continents and even within the same continent. Indian art, for example, is different from Pakistani or Lebanese art, or Chinese art or Korean or Japanese. Different people and groups of people will always have different ideas on beauty, art, music, lifestyle, fashion, etc. You can't think that ALL people on Earth have the same mind. It'd be all rather boring if we did, don't you think?

What do you mean by background and context of Eastern art? Do you have any examples of how they might raise questions in some Westerners?

that is a good question. I'd not heard of any English-speaking Korean Christian bands yet but I might have to ask around. You made me curious haha.

As for what songs we play at our services, they have mostly been Hillsongs, Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, and some others renown English-speaking ones. Some of my favorites out of what we've played recently is O Praise The Name Of The Lord Our God by Hillsong, Blessed Be Your Name by Matt Redman, Open The Eyes Of My Heart, Man Of Sorrows, Cornerstone, and At The Cross.

Ha! lol! :D Your going to feel right at home here; as those are some of my favorite groups and I and others have several threads chock full of them! I especially like the Hillsong songs and with Darlene Zschech at the top; this thread I started in Community Hangouts has some of those with other genres too; we are very eclectic here!:wave:

Welcome to Christian Forums! I too love learning multiple languages though I have a different focus - primarily the romantic languages (Spanish, Italian), but a bit of Czech, Hebrew, Greek and Slavonic. I love learning about the origins of various languages as well.

Oh nice! Yeah I love the latin/romance languages the most. But I do want to learn Japanese, Arabic, and maybe Russian as well. Linguistics? c:
I love accents and slang as well. And different dialects and words that we use differently, different vocabulary that we use across the English-speaking world (US/UK/Australia/NZ/etc). I just find it fascinating.
So glad to meet you!

YW. Sometimes I don't feel like the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree; but we got to remember who the tree is; Jesus; and we all have our own way of shining for Him; as we're only the reflection of him; God bless you sister in Christ!

It was an amazing introduction! I liked it very much. I admire you for all these languages that you manage to learn! Looks so cool and impossible to me.
Since how many years do you study all these languages?
Creative writing? I already tried a few times. As a perfectionnist, nothing was enough good for me :p
Anyway welcome here. I'd like to tell you that in Korean but I would have to use an online translator -not really honest. So just "Welcome" like this :D

Yes, I agree! I guess this is why it's remarkable that Korean -the former Hermit Kingdom (if I'm not remembering wrongly) - developed its own writing system which is still used today.

It seems to me that Eastern artists not unusually treat the canvas a little differently; as if the objects they depict are not necessarily being represented in a time and space familiar to the observer but rather being projected in the abstract.

Well, English and Korean, I've had around me all my life, although I haven't spoken Korean a lot so my speaking skills is not as good as it should be haha. English is my dominant language/ the language I would say I'm a native speaker of.
Spanish, I started in the 6th grade and continued on through middle shool, high school, and it was my minor in college. French, I've picked up from talking to French professors and friends who speak it; it was pretty easy to pick up since I knew Spanish. I only took one official class of French, the rest it's just from being around the language. German, I've learned through Duolingo.
;DD Thank you again for welcoming me! Looking forward to gettong to know you and CF more!

I can see that, yeah... but you seem to be more of an Eastern art expert than I am bro haha.

Well, to bring it back to language, do you see any link grammatically between the idea of the eternal present and the blurring of the abstract and the representational in Eastern art?

This is probably particularly relevant in Australian aboriginal languages.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by 'eternal present' and 'blurring of the abstract'
