I lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks eating nothing but fast food. I kid you not. An egg mcmuffin is actually a very reasonable choice for breakfast. Most of the fat in fast food comes from the fries. Cut them out and you're good to go. I wanted to prove that fast food was NOT always bad for you, so for breakfast, I'd eat an egg mcmuffin and have a bottle of water. For lunch, I went to Taco Bell and got 2 chicken soft tacos and another bottle of water. For dinner, I went to Chick-Fil-a and got a grilled chicken sandwich, small fries, and a diet soda. If I snacked in between, I would have fruit or yogurt. The weight couldn't peel off fast enough. The trouble isn't McDonalds. It's people ordering a double quarter pounder with cheese, a super sized order of fries, and a super sized non-diet soda 5 times a week. Exercise some self control and make healthy choices.....even at fast food restaurants.

Now that's scary...

But as for this "interesting" statement....it compares one rationale for eating at In N' Out restaurants to a rationale for abortion or terrorist bombing...??... I don't like it. Too extreme. another example of a "truly unique form of logic" at work. I still like seeing Bible verses on my cup, even if its terribly unhealthy gov't-subsidized high-fructose corn syrup that I'm drinking.
(snip...)

Nothing unique about it at all. Some just can't get past the same kind of logic once the level of impropriety is raised. Bad is bad with or without Biblical phrases. There's no magical quality to phrases from the Bible that converts something bad for you to a level of being good for you. It's the same stuff inside the cup no matter what happens to be printed on the outside and your body won't notice the slightest difference due to a choice of text on the packaging.

Another side of the issue is that both the terrorist attacks mentioned well back in the thread and McDonalds, (as well as nearly all other fast food chains), promote the slaughter of innocents.

I don't think it's just McDonalds's thinking that is bad (quick and cheap) it is how Americans think in general. I heard McDonalds is not doing nearly as well in other countries as it has done in America. Basically, here in America we are always in such a rush mode trying to be the "All American" that a lot of times McDonalds does seem to be the only viable option (or any fast food place). We try to keep up with the "Jonses" and forget about the important things like eating a home cooked meal with our loved ones. I read that the Mediterranean diet is very healthy, but it isn't just the diet itself but other aspects of the Mediterranean life. Like people who eat that diet (I believe its the Italians or French that eat the Mediterranean way) but anyway, they are just more relaxed in general. McDonalds caught on so good in America because it fits into our whole culture. We get so caught up in always having to be doing something, and becoming "successful" that small things like cooking seem unimportant and not worth our time. The Amish eat so many more calories then I would ever eat but they tend to stay in good shape because of their lifestyle. So it isnt just Mcdonalds, its our whole lifestyle that is endangering us. I think they call it Mcdonaldization: Fast, Efficient, and Cheap. I think we are all worth more then that.

I used to have the occasional Mcdonalds:)idea: before I cut out meat of my diet altogether) I used to like the taste of their food but moments after I'd eaten their burgers I could feel a pain in my stomach and got this horrid greasy feeling in my mouth for ages afterward:cry: !! - not nice at all
