Maybe we can start a phone and/or snail mail support group

I have been thinking of starting a phone and/or snail mail support group.

What do ya'll think?

Would YOU join? PLEASE consider it... I need people who understand what I am going through that I can VERBALLY talk to.

I think it is a good idea. I would..i just have to figure out how to call anyone. My cell is through my mom and I will end up with issues if I am calling a bunch of people she doesn't know. I can always get calling cards..i will definatley join..

Angel, I am in Australia, but I think a snail mail would be fantastic!! Phone to & from America from here would be too expensive. But Snail Mail!!!

I would also recommend against it. You should only EVER give out your personal information to somebody you trust explicitly. On a public board like this, it would be trivial for a predator to come here and post like someone who SI's to gain your trust. Giving out a physical address or telephone number is just ASKING for trouble!

That said, it could be a very good idea to make small connections so you can email somebody and after you are SURE you trust them, you could start a pen-pal relationship. However, a public thread like this just invites people with bad intentions...

We don't allow members to post personal information (like addresses or phone numbers) on the public boards so it would have to be through PM. Even privately like that, however, I strongly recommend sticking to email for casual contacts like this. Further, if you DO give out your address or phone number, make sure you have friends or family that know about it. I'm sad to say it, but the internet definately isn't a totally safe place. Even if you're just writing back and forth to a friend, you need to have friends and family watching your back with their address etc... in case something goes wrong.

I don't mean to scare anybody, but depressed teenagers (especially girls) are internet predators' primary target. Think hard before giving out information and never EVER meet somebody alone!

Just looking out for some members I've grown to really care about...

I strongly don't think you should give even a phone number out on this site. Someone gave me her phone number here before and all I had to do was look it up on msn phone number reverse site. It gave the directions to the person's front door and she lives in another state. I would even be reluctant even with pm ing my address to anyone either. I'm even alittle paranoid about listing my city I live in.
