To be a Christian, you need to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and is God, and that He came to earth in physical flesh, died, rose again physically from the grave and is ascended to heaven, in order to pay for our sins and win our salvation. Then, if we believe this, we trust in Him as Lord and savior. Then we submit to Him.
God promises that if we believe in Him and we confess our sins to Him, He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That means forgiveness, but also rooting it out of our lives. If so, you are a Christian, and need good Christian support at a faithful church that preaches true doctrine. Read 1 John. It will give you a lot of information on self-testing.
