Ever heard of Etna?

Ya, I've seen a sign for Etna on 95 on my way north to Patten.
I've stopped in newport many times, but never drove thru Etna.

Actually, if you drive 95 north of Newport, you've driven through Etna! Basically it's a crossroads with a little store that makes great pizza and sells expensive gas. The swampy area just north of Newport is Etna Bog. The leaves have turned here all of a sudden and the drive is beautiful right now!

Etna Bog ... I'd not heard of that bog before .. near Patten there is the Thousand Acre Bog.

Leave are pretty down here now.

Sounds like a big bog! Patten's north of Millinocket, isn't it? Maybe near Houlton?

Ya, Patten is about half way between Millinocket and Houlton.
There's a nice over look on Rt. 11 north where looking east one can see the bog and looking west one can see Katahdin. Great view of both, but most people only think of looking at the Mtn.

Katahdin is beautiful to look at, in any season. Bogs are interesting places to watch over the seasons, too. What kind of wildlife lives in your Thousand Acre Bog (reminds me of the Thousand Acre Woods from Winnie the Pooh)?
