I'm new here so I thought I might give this a try. I suppose 34 years of age could be called mid-thirties, making me "mature" enough, age-wise, to be posting in here. If it makes any difference I felt like I was way beyond "mature" age range a long time before I ever turned thirty and the few friends I have in real life are twice my age or older. Anyway, here goes:

First Name:

Mathew

Location:

New Mexico

Children and/or pets:

One - (my 11 year old nephew, I have raised him since he was four months of age)

Occupation:

After spending over a decade being a full time caregiver for my nephew and the elderly and ailing my family, I am desperately trying to find something to fill this category.

Favorite Color:

Whatever looks good at the time. I usually prefer more subdued and less garish colors.

Favorite Food:

Presently, whatever I'm able to put on the table

Hobbies:

I haven't really pursued any in years. I haven't had much of an opportunity to do so. The one thing that does seem to have stayed with me since the sixth grade is writing. Even now, despite the excessive levels of stress and "things" that I have to deal with, every once in a great while I manage to churn out something that will just floor you.

Likes:

My nephew is my treasure.

There is nothing more enjoyable, nothing that I like better than when my relationship with God is in a season of abundance. He and I connect deeply and intimately every time there's prayer, my level of blissfulness remains in overdrive, and the wisdom, insight, and understanding just seem to flow unhindered from God.

Dislikes/pet peeves:

Large herds of loud noisy people

When people fail to return their shopping carts to the many conveniently located and conspicuously marked shopping cart receptacles

Ministry Involvement:

I'm writing an inspirational book. (if that counts)

Bible Translation:

NIV. The study Bible with all of the spiffy footnotes is especially nice. I completely wore one out and had to buy another to replace it.

Bible Verse(s):

There is a whole Bible full of them but, some of the primary ones that have significantly impacted my life and played a major role in shaping my relationship with God are:

Matthew 22:30
Isaiah 54:5&17
Hosea 2:14-16
Ezekiel 16:3-8

Hymns or other Christian songs:

There are a bunch but none in particular that really stand out from the rest. I guess for the sake of listing something, a couple of contemporary songs that tend to give me the warm fuzzies are:

Show Me Your Glory by Third Day

Oh Praise Him (All This For A King) by the David Crowder Band

At the risk of being branded a heathen and becoming an outcast, probably the best rendition of Oh Come All Ye Faithful I've ever heard was done by Twisted Sister back in the 1980's.

Interesting Factoid #1:

The past several years I seem to have morphed into a hardcore pessimist. Most of the time it seems as if Murphy's Law is the default "modus operandi" in this world.

Interesting Factoid #2:

I can build computers in my sleep.

Interesting Factoid #3:

I'm still driving the first car I ever owned, a twenty seven year old Chevy sedan that wants desperately to die but hasn't quite been able to bring itself to do so. If God ever sends a newer car my way, I'll bet he's going to have to find jobs for a whole bunch of Angels because I'm fairly convinced that he has an entire crew of them fly along with me wherever I go just so they can keep the car from falling apart around my ears as I drive it down the road.

Interesting Factoid #4:

Man, I'm just not what you could call an interesting person. I was pretty much calling in favors just just to come up with the first three "factoids."

Interesting Factoid #5:

See factoid #4 above.

Location: Delaware

Children and/or pets: My son, Josh, who's 10. I've had a myriad of pets over the years; currently just a cat named Gracie. If you ever need a laugh, just ask me to list all of the quirky nicknames she has.

Favorite Color: Greens, blues, I like orange and gold, too! Brown, for some reason. I don't know, it depends.

Likes: I like my family. I like to spend time on my hobbies. I like the Bible.
Dislikes/pet peeves: I don't like manipulative and dishonest people. I don't like arrogant people, or self satisfied people.
Ministry Involvement: Right now, none. I work in Human Services but don't have a church family right now, and live in a very tiny, tiny community.
Bible Translation: King James
Bible Verse(s):
Hymns or other Christian songs: When They Ring Those Golden Bells, In the Sweet By & By, many others. I'm partial to bluegrass and old hymns.
Interesting Factoid #1: I was a rodeo princess many, many moons ago.
Interesting Factoid #2: I call my younger children my babies though they are 8 & 9.
Interesting Factoid #3: I have worked in juvenile detention and with mentally ill, violent sex offenders and group home residents. I'm a caseworker now, it's very soothing.
Interesting Factoid #4: I'm not afraid of anything, God is my shield.
Interesting Factoid #5: I'm a terrible housekeeper.

Ok, that's probably not very interesting, but it looms large in my life and I hate it about myself.

Hello all, I am 47, work full time and have two very active children. I am not sure why I'm here except it's sort of fun and interesting to put yourself out there. I enjoy my single life. I haven't dated or even entertained the thought since I left my children's father (abusive alcoholic, enough said).

I'm glad this is a busy site, I enjoy messageboarding, and talking to other Christians.

I'm currently an online student, pursuing my degree, and I have just been hired in another position on the coast, so I will be moving here very shortly. I'm dreading MOVING but very exciting about being there. I'm returning to the town I spent my childhood in, and it's very, very exciting!

Let's get to know each other better.
I borrowed this from the Women's forum.

Feel free to ignore any item you do not feel like answering AND feel free to add any new ones.
There is a section at the bottom to tell whatever facts about yourself you want to.

You can grab this blank one to start from...

First Name (if you want): My name is Donald Lee McDaniel
Location: I live in a large city in Oregon
Children and/or pets: I have no pets, other than my iPad 2
Occupation: Retired

Favorite Color: Blue
Favorite Food: Almost anything but shrimp and other crustaceans
Hobbies: Patristic Theology, Computers [got my first computer in 1979]
Likes: I like most all things, but especially Astrophysics, Quantuum Physics, Theology, the Bible, Television [especially the News], Newer Movies, Writing, discussing, Jews, Celts, non-Fundamentalists, but still Conservatives, Catholics, Orthodox Christians, History, the Ante-Nicaene Fathers, loving people, kindness, respect, and other spiritual fruits, Prophecy, the Tanakh, the NT, and many other things.
Dislikes/pet peeves: Agressive people, especially agressive Christians of all sorts.

Ministry Involvement: I minister God's love in Amazon Threads
Bible Translation: I prefer the English Standard Version, as well as the NASB
Bible Verse(s): John 3:16, anything in Revelation or the letters of Paul, John, and the rest of the Gospels
Hymns or other Christian songs: the Crusaders' Hymn, O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Havah Nagillah, Silent Night, Amazing Grace, or anything which lifts my spirit.

Interesting Factoid #1: God loves all men equally
Interesting Factoid #2: We have been in the Last Days since the Church was founded
Interesting Factoid #3: I love Revelation 11-13, which I believe is speaking to us today.
Interesting Factoid #4: Messiah is coming quickly, but not necessarily soon
Interesting Factoid #5: The Kingdom of God has been growing since Adam and Eve

I also love Rock and Roll, and have since the 50s.
I consider myself to be a monk of God, but not formally.
The seed which Jesus planted has been growing since He first spoke.
I do not believe that Jesus is the Father [ie., "God"], since God cannot die.
I do believe that the Father lives in all men, through the Spirit of Jesus.
I do pray in tongues from time to time, but not often.
I believe that the greatest gift of the Spirit is God's Love, and seek only for this gift continually.
Some will love us, and some will hate us, and some will be indifferent to us.
I believe that faith is very important to our lives as Christians, just as I believe that hope does not make us ashamed.
I believe that there will be a physical resurrection of all men, after which we will be judged according to our deeds, and the way we use our gifts from God.
I believe that I am the least of all men, and my life is lived in service to all men.
I believe that the Jews will be the greatest in the Kingdom of God, because they both do and teach the Law of God. This is in accordance with the words of Jesus, who is the Messiah of all men, especially the sons and daughters of Abraham according to the flesh.
I am very, very poor in this world, but rich in faith for Eternity .
