  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well I went on the hike with my son AND ABOUT DIED! LOL. Not really but we had to stop about 100 times. My son was so patient with me. The magazine lied. It said it had a short steep beginning and then leveled off. NO! It was UP and DOWN and UP and DOWN. Even on the way back, I was asking WHY are we going UP again? It' was kind of hot. My hands swelled up. My legs and feet were OK but I had trouble catching my breath. No chest pain or anything, I am just severly out of shape, obviously! AND I probably didn't drink enough water the day before. I drank alot on the hike. It was almost 6 miles and it was almost too much for me. Oh well, it's over now and we did have a good time for the most part. Then we came home and showered and went to a mexican restaurant and had a great lunch. THEN I came home and took a 3 hour nap LOL!

Michelle, We just don't realize how our sedentary life leads to our body being so unprepared for a walk like you described, especially at our age. My walking has also made me conscious of just how much extra work just 10 extra lbs can cause on a walk like that. But I think its great you for out and did that with your son.

I really wish that me knowing how much I need to loose 30 lbs so I could climb a mtn easier would give me the motivation to loose that weigh. But its not happened yet!

I was playing golf when the explosion happened in Boston. Heard about it on the radio when I started to drive home. I was playing golf on 9/11 also. That's my personal coincidence.

Wow! that's kind of bizarre! I wonder what it means? ;) I think it means you like golf or you play golf alot :D:wave:

Michelle, don't be discouraged! Six miles is a lot to start with. Maybe start by taking a lot of walks around the block or something like that - a lot of one mile walks and get used to doing that. Then you will become ready for more. Check with your doctor about what exercises are appropriate and how much - that about being out of breath and the hands swelling does not sound good but I don't know.

Last Saturday I hiked on parts of a trail I had not tried before and it added up to about 6 miles in all. I think next Saturday I will get an early start and try to walk it twice for 12 miles (I have done 8 miles a few times already).

From what I understand the hands swelling are due to being dehydrated and the being out of breath is just being out of shape. YES thank you I must start walking the dog more!

Came home last night and the puppy was totally lethargic. Took him outside and he tried to do his business but it squirted out and was kind of clear. He wouldn't eat or drink. I finally got some water down him and gave him some maple syrup which he did lick up and then he kind of came back to life a little. This morning he was a little better. But still squirted clear on doing his business. He drank some water and I hand fed him some food. He did also eat a couple of chewable bones that we give them. I think he ate something he shouldn't have and I just hope he is not blocked up where he needs surgery.

So my little puppy "Soldier" does have Parvo darn it. The saving grace is that he might already be half way thru it, and the manufacturer of the vaccine guarantees the vaccination so that they will cover my medical costs because he WAS vaccinated so....I hope this is really true. I will know more on Monday, but I heard it from a vendor at work and then my vet told me about it and the place where I got his shots called and they are doing all the legwork regarding it. AND the other good news is that he will never have to worry about getting Parvo again. I have to inject him with fluids though and I'm not thrilled about that but......

So a non restful weekend. There was still some old knob and tub wiring in my house. So I spent both Sat. and Sunday with an electrician rewiring and adding new wiring to deal with the insufficient wiring in my house. Up and down the stairs many times. Crawling into craw spaces that were dusty and insulation is never fun. But the knob and tube is history and I have 3 new circuits in the apartment that will stop the problem of circuit breakers from tripping and one room will be much more enjoyable to live in. Not to mention how much safer the house is. Also it feels so good to have this work done. Got a couple more electrical things to do when I get back from vacation!

Rested all day Saturday until I had to work Sat night. Yesterday woke up with one crying eye and it kept on all thru church along with running nose. Went home and slept ALOT and still feel the same. I am at work but would much rather be home snoozing. The only thing I managed to get done yesterday was the laundry.

The puppy seems to be back to his normal self where he likes to tear up the cushions of my patio furniture. Grant it they were already all ripped, but I don't need the stuffing to be completely taken out along with the foam shredded in little pieces in my yard!
