Then the Lord will go forth
And fight against those nations, As He fights in the day of battle.
Zachariah 14:3

Was Titus and the Roman army destroyed in 70 AD?
And this shall be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem:
Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet,
Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets,
And their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths.
Zechariah 14:12
Did Titus and the Roman army have their eyes melted from their heads?
The Olivet Discourse nor Zechariah 14 have anything to do with the events of 70 AD.

I can show you where the beast arrives in Jerusalem killing the people and raping the women.
Can you show me the same being done to Rome?

Then some 400 years later, God took down the Roman Empire and the invaders took off with the Menorah.
Truthfully, I really didn't know Rome had held onto it that long.

This picture shows a Menorah being taken during the sacking of Rome.

Joel on the day of the LORD also speaks of the new waters to flow.
For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
Good verses.
Joel 3:14
13 Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, trample the grapes, for the winepress is full; the wine vats overflow because their wickedness is great.
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! [Revelation 14:14-20]
For the day of the LORD is near in the Valley of Decision.

Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges
the valley of decision
]
Another name of the ‘valley of Jah’s judgement’ (Joel 3:2; Joel 3:12), so called on account of the ‘decision’ to be executed in it. The word rendered decision is cognate with those rendered decided in 1 Kings 20:40, and determined in Isaiah 10:23; Isaiah 28:22, and identical with that rendered determined in Isaiah 10:22 and Job 14:5 (properly something cut sharply off, de-cision, de-termination). The word ḥârûtz means, however, also a sharp threshing-board (see on Amos 1:3): hence A.V. marg. (following the explanation which David Kimchi seems to prefer) threshing; and so Credner, and a few other moderns, supposing the allusion to be to the cruel method of treating captives mentioned in Amos 1:3 : but there is nothing to suggest that sense here; nor does Joel 3:12 (in which the figure of the wine-press follows that of the harvest) at all lead up to it.....

Isaiah 13:4
Listen, a tumult on the mountains, like that of a great multitude! Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms, like nations gathered together! The LORD of Hosts musters an army for war.

The great Harvest of Israel/Judea and Jerusalem:

Revelation 14:
13I heard the voice from heaven saying, "Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them."

The Harvest of the Earth

14I looked, and behold! a white cloud; and on the cloud one sitting like a son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15Another angel came out from the temple, crying with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, "Send forth your sickle, and reap; for the hour to reap has come; for the harvest of the earth is ripe!" 16He who sat on the cloud thrust his sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

17Another angel came out from the temple which is in heaven. He also had a sharp sickle. 18Another angel came out from the altar, he who has power over fire, and he called with a great voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, "Send forth your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for the earth's grapes are fully ripe!"
19The angel thrust his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vintage of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20The winepress was trodden outside of the city,
and blood came out from the winepress, even to the bridles of the horses, as far as one thousand six hundred stadia.

Are you trying to say that born again Christians who have the Holy Spirit won’t know when the Lord will return, after Jesus just took the time to explain about the “signs” that will take place at His coming.

So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!

Here is where the Olivet Discourse begins;

His teaching from the mount of olives.

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” Matthew 24:3

Jesus is teaching the Church about His coming and the end of the age, which was prophesied in the Old Testament -

The burden of the word of the Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. In that day,” says the Lord, “I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in the Lord of hosts, their God.’ In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place—Jerusalem.
“The Lord will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall not become greater than that of Judah. In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the Lord before them. It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. Zechariah 12:1-10

Key Verses -

  • “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced.

  • “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.

  • I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.

Did this happen in 70 AD?

Or this -

  • It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Or this

  • they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place—Jerusalem.

Or this

  • “The Lord will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall not become greater than that of Judah. In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the Lord before them.

The coming of the Lord will be a day of victory for those in Jerusalem as the Lord fights for them and destroys the surrounding army.

So in your view, 70ad did not fulfill any major prophecies? That would be disappointing to the Jews of today [who are still waiting on their own future Messiah to come]
Best to show them what has been fulfilled instead of the Zionist Dispensationalist futurists believe will be fulfilled.......at least for now.

Daniel 12:1

"In that time Michael shall stand-up, the chief/prince, the great, the one, standing over sons of thy people.
And time of distress<06869>, which not occurred since to become of a nation, until the time, that.
And in that time, thy people shall escape<4422>, Every of the one being found being written in scroll. [Luke 21:23-36]

Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke's Temple/Jerusalem Discourses harmonized- Poll Thread

Matthew 24:

9 - “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.
21 for then shall be great Tribulation<2347>, such as was not from the beginning of world till now, no, nor may be becoming

Mark 13:19

For in those days shall be tribulation<2347> such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

Luke rather uses great distress and wrath upon the Jews [which I and many others view happened in 70ad]

Luke 21:
23 “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
For there will be great Distress<318> in the land and wrath upon this people.
36 “Yet be being vigilant/watching<69>, in every season<2540> beseeching<1189> that ye should be being strong to be escaping<1628> all these, the being about to be becoming
and to stand before the Son of the Man.[Daniel 12:1]

So in your view, 70ad did not fulfill any major prophecies?

Daniel referred to it in Daniel 9:26

“And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
Daniel 9:26

  • And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.

Jesus also referred to it, while in the Temple area in response to a statement from one of His disciples.

Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” Matthew 24:1-2

His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple.

  • And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

This is a reference to 70 AD.

Later when He was on the mount of Olives, He was answering a direct question about “His coming and the end of the age.”

Do you believe His coming and the end of the age took place in
70 AD?

From what I know for now it that the whole discourse concerns the parousia and 70ad.........but not the Gog-Magog and final WTJ...

Commentary on Matthew 24

*SNIP*

............I had promised that although I am not dogmatic beyond verse 34 that I would explore the issue of Matthew 24 past that point a bit. However, though I may build on this section in the future, it is not intended to be comprehensive as was the prior section.

There are two primary camps within preterism on this issue:

one view holds that there is a break in Matthew 24 beginning with either verse 35 or 36 [Switch-On], and another that holds that the entire enchilada primarily belongs to the first century [Switch-Off].
Proponents of the former view include Dan Trotter and Gary DeMar,
and proponents of the latter include Kenneth Gentry and Marcellus Kik.

Frankly there are strong arguments for both, and I have held both positions, in fact in writing this piece I have waffled - when I started writing I was becoming very convinced of a Pro-Switch view, now upon writing it I am back to my former position of a No-Switch view.

If in fact there is any change after verse 34, this would be what I would propose (I have not—or my poor memory is not allowing me to recall—read anyone who has made this type of the characterization): the entire Discourse has primary and typological ramifications as does almost the entirety of the Bible, properly understood. The subject matter up to verse 34 is strongly primarily speaking of the first century and only very loosely can have thematic application to the future.

After verse 34, Jesus speaks much more loosely, doesn't give a strong time referent and refers in ways that can refer to either the first century, the consummation, or both. I have swayed in various positions so it is unknown if this will be my final resting place. . . . (after completely writing this piece, I am saying probably not).

I don’t care anything about studying man made doctrine.

One question to you, is what I asked -

Do you believe the coming of the Lord and the end of the age took place in 70 AD?

You mean like the man made doctrine of zionist futurism?
Both Preterism and Futurism both have agreements and disagreements with the Scriptures.

Futurist Eschatology Unconvincing | Daniel T Silvestri | Preterist Archive

Preterists believe the “last days” were in the first century because Peter and other inspired writers said so. Preterists believe the imminent fiery judgment, Day of the Lord, return of Christ was at the AD 70 destruction of Jerusalem. Preterists believe John the Baptist, and Jesus the Christ when they preached the kingdom of God being near back then. The futurist believes that NT imminence was not really imminent or it was delayed at Calvary. Didn’t Jesus suggest they would not recognize the “sign” of His coming;

The biggest tragedy of futurist eschatology is that it leaves no room for salvation here and now. Everything is still in the future. Similar to the OT Patriarchs, Israelites, and modern day “Jews”, the futurist awaits salvation from a coming Messiah and a worldly (political) kingdom.

“so also the Christ, once having been offered to bear the sins of many, a second time, apart from a sin-offering, shall appear, to those waiting for him -- to salvation! (Hebrews 9:28 YLT).

The futurist awaits the second appearance of Christ, apart from the sin offering, unto salvation. The preterist has salvation now.
Fortunately, both futurist and preterist are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and not of eschatological doctrine.

For there will be great Distress in the land and Wrath<3709> upon this people.
“And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth” (Luke 18:7-8)?

Matt 24:6..The Jewish Wars in 1st century...Up to 70ad and Masada
===============================
I am learning a lot of what was going on during the 1st century Jewish wars in relation to the 70ad Olivet Discourse.
This is concerning Titus standing on the Mount of Olives.

It appears that The Mount of Olives is mentioned in only 1 verse of the entire OT:

Zechariah 14:4
And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south.

First, the verses from the MoO narrative:

Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke's Temple/Jerusalem Discourses harmonized

Matthew 24
1 And Jesus coming out, departed from the Temple.
3 Yet of Him sitting on the Mount of the Olives, the Disciples came toward to Him according to own saying.............
6 “Yet ye shall be being about to be hearing battles and hearings of battles...but not as yet the End<5056>

Mark 13

1 And He going forth out of the Temple,
3 And of sitting of Him into the Mount of the Olives overlooking the Temple,
7 “Yet whenever ye should be hearing battles and hearings of battles, .....but not as yet the End<5056>

Luke 21

5 and of some saying concerning the Temple,
9 “Yet whenever ye should be hearing battles and tumults<181>, no may be being frightened<4422>, for is binding these to be becoming,

MARCH, A.D. 66 - JERUSALEM
The Final Days of the Jewish Commonwealth ; Anarchy Erupts, and the Christians Flee

Numerous signs, prodigies, and portents are seen in the land of Judaea at the outset of the rebellion. Included in those recorded by Josephus, armed hosts and chariots in the clouds are seen flying over all the land of Judaea; a light at night makes the temple appear as though it were on fire; Halley's Comet, in the appearance of a sword, flies over the region. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory says that the closest approach of the comet that year was in March, immediately prior to the revolt.

Christians seem to have associated this period with the warnings and admonitions of Jesus Christ in Matthew 24, because after the withdrawal of Gallus and the Battle of Beth-horon, a great number of people flee the city of Jerusalem, led by the Mother Church, which headed east over the Jordan River to safety in the area of Pella, Jordan.
Early Christian settlements sprung up all over the Roman Decapolis Scythopolis [Bet She'an], Hippos [Susieh], Gadara [Umm Qais], Pella [Tabaqat Fahl], Philadelphia [Amman], Gerasa [Jerash], Dion [Adun], Kanatha [Kanawat], Damascus, and Raphana [Abila] . Today this region is within the Kingdom of Jordan and the Golan Heights. During the flight out of Palestine, a number of documents were apparently hidden in the Dead Sea area along the route -- DSS Caves 4 and 7-10 are of particular interest.

MAY, A.D. 66 - JERUSALEM
Stage 2: General Revolt in Jerusalem ; Zealot Occupation of Masada: August-September 66

The Factions in Jerusalem During the Roman Siege

The Roman Procurator Florus demands 17 talents from the Jewish Temple treasury. This is the triggering insult for the Jews to begin their revolt. The Roman garrison in Jerusalem is overrun by rebels, who take control of the city. The rebels cause cessation of all sacrifices to the Roman Emperor, thus challenging Rome head-on
Florus cannot handle the situation, so the (Roman) Syrian Governor, Cestius Gallus, is called in to subdue the rebellion. He attacks Jerusalem, gets up to the walls of the city, then unexpectedly withdraws, suffering heavy losses in retreat.
==============================
A.D. 66-69 - GALILEE
PROGRESS OF THE LEGIONS UNDER VESPASIAN

After the humiliation of Gallus -- who subsequently died (some said of shame) -- Nero commands General Vespasian (Titus Flavius Vespasianus) to take over command of the Jewish War.
While civil war rages in Jerusalem, Vespasian decides to give time for the infighting in the city to weaken the Jewish defense against his armies. He then proceeds to subdue Galilee with the aid of his son Titus. After a number of sieges and clashes, he succeeds in calming northern Judaea
JOSEPHUS CAPTURED IN THE SIEGE OF JOTAPATA
Jewish General Josephus in captured in siege of Jotapata. After a short imprisonment, he serves the Roman field marshals until the completion of the war. After the war, Josephus is adopted into the Flavian family, and he writes the definitive history of the Roman-Jewish War
=====================================
"THE YEAR OF THE FOUR EMPERORS"
Four emperors possess the ultimate world power in Rome in quick succession during this unsettled period. The first is Nero (Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus), who ends the reign of the Julio-Claudian dynasty by committing suicide on June 9th, 68.
His last words were "Qualis artifex Pereo" which is translated "what an artist dies in me"

General Galba in Spain declares himself emperor while Nero is still alive, and takes power upon his arrival in Rome.
In January, 69, Galba is murdered by Otho who proclaims himself emperor.
On April 15th, Otho commits suicide and his rival, Vitellius becomes emperor. In June, Vespasian resumes operations in Judea.
In July, Vespasian is proclaimed emperor by the army. He transfers command of the Jewish war to his son Titus and heads for Rome. On December 20th, 69, Vitellius is beheaded in Rome and Vespasian is installed as emperor there.
=================================================
A.D. 70 - JERUSALEM
TITUS TAKES OVER WAR AND HEADS STRAIGHT TO JERUSALEM

They will take away your turban and remove your crown; everything will be changed; the low will be high and the high brought low. To ruin, and to ruin on ruin, am I going to bring it, to such ruin as was never known before this man came who is appointed to inflict the punishment which I am determined to impose on it." (Ez.21:23-27).

With Vespasian taking over the government of the Roman Empire, his son Titus Flavius Vespasianus (AD 9-79; Joint Emperor AD 69-79 ; Sole Emperor 79-81) takes over as field marshal of the Roman forces opposing the Jewish revolt. Titus and Tiberius Alexander, Prefect of Egypt, march to Caesarea from Alexandria, bringing with them reinforcements from the 18th and 3rd Augusta Legions. The 12th Legion marched down from Syria, and three thousand legionaries of the 23rd and/or 24th Legions marched west from the Euphrates. In April, 70, Titus led the 12th and 15th Legions and the 3rd Augusta and 18th Legion cohorts out of Caesarea towards Jerusalem. Upon arriving, he encamped on Mount Scopus, north of the city.
===============================
APRIL, A.D. 70 - PHASE ONE
THE ROMAN ARMY ARRIVES AT JERUSALEM TO PREPARE THE SIEGE

The first night of Titus' encampment with the 15th, 3rd and 18th Legions, the 5th Legion arrived from Emmaus and set camp north of the city on Mount Scopus.
Later the next day, the famed 10th Legion (founded by Julius Caesar) marched in from Jericho and camped on the Mount of Olives, east of the city.
Instead of waiting to starve the Jews into submission, Titus decides to assault many different parts of the city and overwhelm the defenders. Titus was early on in the middle of the fighting with his soldiers. At least two times, Titus and his detachment are surrounded by defenders, only to escape unharmed.

‘Admirable as were the engines constructed by all the legions, those of the tenth were of peculiar excellence.
Their scorpions were of greater power and their stone-projectors larger, and with these they not only kept in check the sallying parties, but those also on the ramparts. The stones that were thrown were of the weight of a talent, and had a range of two furlongs and more. The shock, not only to such as first met it, but even to those beyond them for a considerable distance, was irresistible. The Jews, however, at the first, could guard against the stone; for its approach was intimated, not only to the ear by its whiz, but also, being white, to the eye by its brightness. Accordingly they had watchmen posted on the towers, who gave warning when the engine was discharged and the stone projected, calling out in their native language, "The son is coming," on which those towards whom it was directed would separate, and lie down before it reached them. Thus it happened that, owing to these precautions, the stone fell harmless. It then occurred to the Romans to blacken it; when, taking a more successful aim, as it was no longer equally discernible in its approach, they swept down many at a single discharge.’ Josephus, Jewish Wars, bk. v. chap. vi. 3.

Hello JLB. Glad you asked.
Since that would involve quoting a plethora of verses and pages concerning partial preterism, I decided to just start a thread on it.

Partial Preterist Only - A parousia and judgement on 70ad Jerusalem
===============================
I am both Partial Preterist and Amill [Amillennialism: "no millennium", rejects the theory that Jesus Christ will have a thousand-year-long, physical reign on the earth.]

Eschatology Forum Statement of Purpose

Partial Preterism:Partial preterism holds that most eschatological prophecies, such as
the destruction of Jerusalem,
the Antichrists,
the Great Tribulation,
and the advent of the Day of the Lord as a "judgment-coming" of Christ,
were fulfilled either in AD 70 or during the persecution of Christians under the Emperor Nero.
The Second coming and the resurrection of the dead, however, have not yet occurred in the partial preterist system.

There is only “The coming of the Lord”.

This happens once, at the end of the age, and results in some distinct things.

The Rapture
The Resurrection
The destruction of the antichrist, along with the wicked

This happens once, when the Lord returns to set up His Kingdom on earth, in which all other kingdoms shall be brought to an end.

My focus on this thread is Titus and the 10th legion camped on the Mount of Olives where Jesus gave His 70ad Jerusalem/Temple Discourse.
We now await the final resurrection of the dead and white throne judgement
[where are all the Preterists at?]
We know Revelation involves the 1st century Roman Army because the Denarius is mentioned.
What currency did the Romans use?

Revelation 6:6
And I hear a voice in midst of the four living-ones saying: "a measure of grain/wheat a denari and three measures of barleys a denari, and the oil and the wine no you should be injuring"."

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD
*snip*

The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover. At this season multitudes came up from all the surrounding country, and from distant parts, to keep the festival and the city was at this time crowded with Jewish strangers...........

..............This memorable siege terminated on the eighth day of the ninth month, A.D. 70 : its duration was nearly five months, the Romans having invested the city on the fourteenth day of the fourth month, preceeding.

Was Titus destroyed by Jesus ?

Was the mount of Olives spilt in two in 70 AD?

Behold, the day of the Lord is coming,
And your spoil will be divided in your midst.
For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken,
The houses rifled,
And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Then the Lord will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.

And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west,...

This is the first time I ever saw this connection concerning the Euphrates River in Josephus and Revelation.
Only mentioned in Jeremiah of the Prophets of the OT

TITUS TAKES OVER WAR AND HEADS STRAIGHT TO JERUSALEM

With Vespasian taking over the government of the Roman Empire, his son Titus Flavius Vespasianus (AD 9-79; Joint Emperor AD 69-79 ; Sole Emperor 79-81) takes over as field marshal of the Roman forces opposing the Jewish revolt. 20 A gathering of silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, Unto the midst of a furnace — to blow on it fire, to melt it, So do I gather in Mine anger and in My fury, And I have let rest, and have melted you.
21 And I have heaped you up, And blown on you in the fire of My wrath<5678>, And ye have been melted<5413> in its midst.
22 As the melting of silver in the midst of a furnace, So are ye melted in its midst, And ye have known that I, Yahweh, I have poured out My fury<2534> upon you.’

What better day to gather them into Jerusalem but the feast of the Passover!!

The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover ;
The city was at this time crowded with Jewish strangers, and foreigners from all parts, so that the whole nation may be considered as having been shut up in one prison, preparatory to the execution of the Divine vengeance ; and, according to Josephus this event took place suddenly ; thus, not only fulfilling the predictions of our LORD, that these calamities should come, like the swift-darting lightning" that cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the West," and " as a snare on all of them (the Jews) who dwelt upon the face of the whole earth " (Matt. xxiv. 27, and Luke xxi 35,) but justifying, also, his friendly direction, that those who fled from the place should use the utmost possible expedition.

The flames which enveloped the Temple were so violent and impetuous, that the lofty hill. on which it stood appeared, even front its deep foundations, as one large body of fire.

I had heard Titus sieged Jerusalem about the same time the Babylonians did in the OT but I couldn't find the source.......
Josephus actually said Titus ascribed his victory over Jerusalem with the help of God Almighty

Before their final demolition, however, Titus took, a. survey of the city and its fortifications ; and, while contemplating their impregnable strength, could not help ascribing his success to the peculiar interposition of the ALMIGHTY HIMSELF.
"Had not God himself (exclaimed he) aided out operations, and driven the Jews from their fortresses, it would have been absolutely impossible to have taken them ; for what could men, and the force of engines, have done against such towers as these ?"
After this he commanded that the city should be commanded razed to its foundations, excepting only the three lofty towers Hippocos, Phasael, and Mariamne, which he suffered to remain as evidences of its strength, and as trophies of his victory. There was left standing, also, a small part of the western wall; as a rampart for a garrison, to keep the surrounding country in subjection. Titus now gave orders that those Jews only who resisted should be slain ; but the soldiers, equally void of pity and remorse, slew even the sick and the aged...............

Note the 10 horns in Revelation hating the 70AD Harlot, Jerusalem and that God is actually allowing them to burn and desolate Her.........

Revelation 17:
16 And the ten Horns which thou saw and the Beast, these shall be hating the harlot, and shall be making Her desolate and naked, and the fleshes of Her they shall be eating and shall be burning Her in fire.
17 For the GOD gives into their hearts to do the mind of Him, and to do One mind and to give Their kingdom to the Beast until shall be being finished the words of the GOD.

Revelation 18:19
and they cast dust upon their heads, and cried<2896>, lamenting<2799>, weeping and mourning<3996>, saying,
"Woe! woe! the great City! in which are rich all those having ships<4143> in the sea, out of Her preciousness<5094>,
for to one hour was She was desolated<2049>.

Ezekiel 22:

Obviously then the coming of the Lord, as described in the Olivet Discourse, was not referring to 70 AD, but rather He was teaching His disciples about the Day of the Lord and the end of the age that is described in Zechariah.

Preterism is built upon the misunderstanding of this very thing.

Thus the Lord my God will come, and all the saints with You.

Behold, the day of the Lord is coming,
And your spoil will be divided in your midst.
For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken,
The houses rifled,
And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Then the Lord will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,
Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.
Then you shall flee through My mountain valley,
For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal.
Yes, you shall flee
As you fled from the earthquake
In the days of Uzziah king of Judah.
Thus the Lord my God will come,
And all the saints with You.
Zechariah 14:1-5
