  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, it's greek.
I'm posting this thread to encourage others to get into the new testament in the original greek language. If I can learn greek, anyone can. Reading the new testament in the original language is very rewarding, and not that difficult. Not any more difficult than Spanish or French.

Hebrew, the biblical word ha-satan means "the adversary" or the obstacle, or even "the prosecutor" (recognizing that God is viewed as the ultimate Judge).
Mastema is the name of an arch-demon who first appears in the literature of Israel's Second Temple Period, as a personification of the Hebrew word "mastemah", meaning "hatred", "hostility", "enmity" or "persecution".

Much "Satanic" lore does not originate from actual Satanists, but from Christians. Best-known would be the medieval folklore and theology surrounding demons and witches.

OE fēond 'an enemy, the devil', of Gmc origin.

Bracketed word is mine. see Luke 11:15

Beelzebub and Baal Zebub are corrupt forms of what was originally "Baal Zebul" (Baal of the heavenly mansion,
V02p630001.jpg
, Movers, in "Journal Asiatique," 1878, pp. 220-225), and afterward "Baal of the nether world." (2) The word "Zebul" (from "zebel," dung) is a cacophonic corruption of "Zebub," in order to give the name the meaning of "god of the dung."

Mat 9:35And Jesus, he was leading around all the towns and the villages, teaching in their gatherings, and proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, and while treating every disease and every weakness.

Mat 9:35 is introduced here out of its proper place, which is after what is recorded in Luk 6:12-19. [JFB]
Εν τω λαω. This clause is omitted by about fifty MSS., several of them of the first antiquity and authority; by the Complutensian, and by Bengel; by both the Syriac, both the Arabic, both the Persic; the Ethiopic, Gothic, Saxon, and all the Itala, except four. Griesbach has left it out of the text.

Yes, bowels. I wasn't sure how to express that.

What do you think of "skinned alive" (because of flayed) for εσκυλμενοι?

I took a short break from CF. I'm back but I'm going to limit myself to just this thread for a while.

Matthew 9:38

δεηθητε ουν του κυριου του θερισμου οπως εκβαλη εργατας εις τον θερισμον αυτου

ask then the lord the harvest so send-out workers into the harvest his

So you all should ask the lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
