Lawyer tells ABC News his 2 clients told House Ethics Committee that Gaetz paid them for sex

An attorney representing two women who testified before the House Ethics Committee told ABC News in an interview that former Rep. Matt Gaetz paid both his adult clients for sex.

Florida attorney Joel Leppard told ABC News' Juju Chang that one of his clients also witnessed Gaetz having sex with a third woman -- who was then 17 years old -- at a house party in Florida.

"The House was very clear about that and went through each. They essentially put the Venmo payments on the screen and asked about them. And my clients repeatedly testified, 'What was this payment for?' 'That was for sex,'" Leppard said.

Gaetz Paid Accused Sex Trafficker, Who Then Venmo’d Teen

In two late-night Venmo transactions in May 2018, Rep. Matt Gaetz sent his friend, the accused sex trafficker Joel Greenberg, $900. The next morning, over the course of eight minutes, Greenberg used the same app to send three young women varying sums of money. In total, the transactions amounted to $900.
The memo field for the first of Gaetz’s transactions to Greenberg was titled “Test.” In the second, the Florida GOP congressman wrote “hit up ___.” But instead of a blank, Gaetz wrote a nickname for one of the recipients. (The Daily Beast is not sharing that nickname because the teenager had only turned 18 less than six months before.) When Greenberg then made his Venmo payments to these three young women, he described the money as being for “Tuition,” “School,” and “School.”

"Matt Gaetz will be the next Attorney General. He’s the right man for the job and will end the weaponization of our justice system," Trump transition spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer told ABC News regarding all the allegations involving Gaetz.

The House Ethics Committee is expected to meet on Wednesday and discuss its report on Gaetz and potentially vote on its release, despite the fact that the investigation ended when Gaetz resigned from the House, multiple sources told ABC News.

Other than president-elect Trump's choosing, what makes you say that?
FWIW if President Trump did not choose him, we wouldn’t be discussing it. My opinion is NOT based on the false assumption that President Trump is 100% right on everything.

Just like the false assumption that Presidents Trump is 100% wrong about everything.

That said, there are a number of things I like about the idea of Matt taking the roll of AG

1. His no nonsense approach to hot button issues like National Security

2. His calling out politicians who participate in what is called lawfare

3. My opinion is that anyone who the left hates this much, who is resisted and denigrated to the extent he is, is probably someone who has the stones big enough to make the changes needed in a very broken system.

That being said: there are some very serious accusations that have been made. An ethics committee should thoroughly investigate and vet him behind closed doors.

If he is innocent, then he doesn’t need to be dragged through the mud as the left media just loves to do.

If there is sufficient cause, he should be brought to trial and if found guilty be put under the jail.

The House Ethics Committee already has. The committee was scheduled to vote on releasing the report last Friday...that is until Mr Gaetz shared a plane ride with Trump down to Mar-a-Lago.

There's only one reason a flawed man such as Gaetz would be chosen to be the nation's chief prosecutor: Donald Trump.

Well who else would nominate an AG?

Uh, yeah the President nominates his cabinet member so you are right President Trump is the only reason Gaetz would be nominated because he is the only one who could nominate him.

I don’t see a conspiracy over everything the President does and I have faith in our judicial system that if the man is tried and found guilty he will suffer the consequences.

You don’t mind if he get tried before we adjudicate him guilty do you?

1. His no nonsense approach to hot button issues like National Security
How would you characterize this non nonsense approach? Is this just about immigration? That's more in DHS's bailiwick.

I mean this has no nonsense, but it has no substance either:

We must uphold national security without sacrificing the constitutional rights of our fellow Americans,” [Gaetz] said.
2. His calling out politicians who participate in what is called lawfare
Alleged lawfare.
3. My opinion is that anyone who the left hates this much,
I don't know that it's hate to point out the GOP-led House Ethics Committee is looking into his well-known sexual escapades. Or that 3 years of practicing law doesn't prepare one to be the chief Attorney of the United States.

I'm positive Former GOP Speaker McCarthy hates Gaetz more than I do.

If he is innocent, then he doesn’t need to be dragged through the mud as the left media just loves to do.

If there is sufficient cause, he should be brought to trial and if found guilty be put under the jail.
Neither of those is before us. Right now the Senate has a constitutional duty to provide advice and consent regarding the nomination. At the very least, he has put himself in compromising positions with multiple witnesses at parties involving drugs and sex with multiple consensual partners. Also, his competency for the job is questionable.

And how exactly would that even matter? You guys voted for a convicted felon (who hasn't even been sentenced yet) and adjudicated rapist for the highest office in the country. There's no way you can convince me that you guys actually care about any of that.

Your repeated complaint is noted - again - IMHO - it is what lead to a system wide loss for the Democrats -

Alleged lawfare.
Only certain accusations are alleged?

Gaetz is deemed guilty without any trial or charges - but the overwhelming accusations of lawfare are alleged?

Is that how it works. I wonder why the Democrats lost so badly and are left in shatters - can you name the person leading the Party? Who is the head? Joe's off to rest in January - Kamala is being kicked to the curb - who is the leader?

And you will continue to the losses to leadership. I will not try to stop a group who seems to be bent on destroying itself by it's own design.

You're under the illusion that this is about party, because for you guys it is. For you it's just about this one awful, failure of a human being that you prop up like a messiah. I get it. But that's just not how it is for most of us on the left. Let the Democratic party crumble. Something will come up in its place. It's the ideas that will persist.

We see this with the dichotomy between Christians and atheists, too. You guys worship this entity so you think atheists have to worship something too. It's just not the same. We are not the same.

They marinate in media that says its all "lawfare", which they were already eager to believe about the man they put so much faith in.

You're under the illusion that this is about party, because for you guys it is.
As soon as Trump changed parties - the left began attacking him and it has not stopped for eight years - so yes, it has been about the party - but that is an issue authored by the Democrats.
For you it's just about this one awful, failure of a human being that you prop up like a messiah. I get it.
You might think that way - but I don't think you are correct and the election sweep of the Executive, Legislative branches adequately, neither does a majority of American voters.

But that's just not how it is for most of us on the left. Let the Democratic party crumble. Something will come up in its place. It's the ideas that will persist.
Understanding it rises and falls based on their words and actions, nothing more. And it is falling because of the propaganda lines quoted ad infinitum. Too much crying wolf - too much fear mongering - too much hatred - they are not joyful warriors when they do nothing but spew hatred. IMHO
We see this with the dichotomy between Christians and atheists, too. You guys worship this entity so you think atheists have to worship something too. It's just not the same. We are not the same.
No we are not - I think personally that I care less about you being an atheist than you care about me being in a living relationship with God.

Speaking only for myself - a minister and in a living relationship with Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. This election - much like the last two was not so much an expression of faith in a person as it was the choice between the lesser of two evils. In the eyes of the majority of voters - myself included - Trump is less evil than anyone the Democratic Party has presented - especially someone who was gifted the candidacy that everyone else has to earn.

I believe the sooner those on the left come to the realization that the majority of voters prefer this highly flawed man over the best they have to offer - maybe they will concentrate on developing someone who represents the people better.

Perhaps instead of never ending investigations and seven calls for impeachments in four years - they could lead the way and help the American public with what they deem as important.

Until then - we have to protect our income, country and families -

Perhaps Trump could leave classified documents where they belong, not create fraudulent documents, and not ask world leaders to do him personal favors.

I can't respond to pretty much any of this honestly on this forum without running afoul of the rules, so I'll refrain.

I'll just state my opinion that we are all living in different realities from each other. Like completely different REALITIES. Not just different ideas or opinions. Completely different sets of morals. Completely different perceptions of what is actually happening in the world. What is truth, what are lies, what's "good" and what's "evil."

That's probably the only thing on which I'm certain we agree.

I thought the man was a creep well before it was an issue what party he was and well before he changed parties.

Anyone could see back then that he was a cheesy gold plated lifestyle salesman whos eye wandered to every shiny object or woman.
