There is no natural human language that is only abstract.Abstraction...ambiguity...do you see the correlation?
There is no natural human language that is only abstract.
There are languges that are only primitive and languages that are advanced (containing both primitive and abstract concepts). Even in Greek/German/Latin/Chinese you need to say "three apples".
Abstraction is something that is added, a higher level of language. The basic level for a daily life still exists.
But if you have just simple vocabulary and must describe something complex, it produces ambiguous, bad description.Sometimes simpler is more complex...

More primitive. Languages develop in time, as more and more concepts are needed to be expressed. The language in the garden, was it more primitive or more advanced than Greek?
But if you have just simple vocabulary and must describe something complex, it produces ambiguous, bad description.
When primitive nations saw a white man for the first time, with all the technology (guns, airplanes, lighters etc), they could not even comprehend what it is, not to say describe it properly. Airplane was a thunder bird etc. Now, if you would read in the Bible "there was a thunder bird in heavens", you would get a very ambiguous, mysterious and confused idea. And if you would take it literally (as many Christians do)... hm, what would you get...

A ladder to heavens Jacob saw.
A language is accomodating to a need of a society. If you need to express more, the language will evolve. If you need to say less, the language can atrophy. So you believe language is evolving?

Yes, if you need to express more than just some daily agricultural/hunting activity, you will need more concepts and you will need to make your language more advanced, in time.More concepts, as in, more ways to get around the simplicity of life?

We do not have the original text...
And...? We still have a "thunder bird" type of description.Well, we can find out the Hebrew word for what they translated as "ladder".
*The Paleo Hebrew used pictographs that may give insight.
And maybe it was not a serpent at all.
