  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Matthew 5:30
"And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell."

All the scientific evidence and acceptance of masturbation is the work of the devil. Just because a lot of people do it doesn't mean it's alright. Haven't you ever heard, "Walk the narrow path"? If you are Christian and you do it, what makes you any different than a non believer on the street?

God does not tell us repenting will be easy, only that it will be worth it.
Should we not eat because sinners do that too?

Haha thats not what i meant -,-

Besides you need to eat so you dont..die
That's special pleading, Jack. Why is eating any different than masturbating? The body craves masturbation just like it does food, and sinners eat to satisfy their craving for food.

What makes us Christians different than the unbeliever is that we love Jesus. Nowhere does God say what seperates us from unbelievers is weither we touch or not. We deny ourselves by following Jesus and accepting the persecution that comes from that.

This thread has been over this territory before.

The Bible nowhere describes masturbation, or the desire for sex, to be a sin. It does come down very hard on making things into sins that it doesn't clearly condemn as sin.

The sad thing about American Christianity is that it makes the desire for sex into "lust", which in the Bible it isn't, and greed into a virtue, which in the Bible is a vice. "Lust" is what's covered in the tenth commandment, which is against any kind of covetousness, not the 7th, which is against adultery.

Amen .. preach it brother ... That very that is often quoted that our society will call what is evil good also says the they will call what is good evil. I'm going to start quoting that verse more often ... Masturbation is good and its evil to call good evil IMPO.

I don't know if you're referring to me or not but I don't believe that masturbation is "good" or "evil" -it's just one of those things people do.
I don't know anyone who believes it's something to be proud of, as I mentioned before, and that's a belief that seems universal, independent of religion.

I really agree with the previous post:
"What makes us Christians different than the unbeliever is that we love Jesus. Nowhere does God say what seperates us from unbelievers is weither we touch or not. We deny ourselves by following Jesus and accepting the persecution that comes from that."

I would just add to that we not only love God, but we love others as well. Those are the commandments that we should be concentrating on, as Jesus teaches. The first one, to love God, and the second, to love others. Everything else, as the saying goes, is commentary.

I doubt people touch without a single sinful thought in the process, so i really don't get why some don't consider it sinful................

Thinking about sex isn't sinful. If you think it is sinful...then you better not do it (Romans 14...read it...then meditate on it). It is truly sad to see people living in such bondage...

Yes, Kencj I was refering to your comment. I know not many can say masturbation is good. It took me a long while to get to where I could say it was good.

It depends on what you mean by "good" -which in a moral sense means something morally useful, like doing good for someone.
I can't see how it's really "good" in that sense, which is why I consider it in itself neither good nor evil in any moral sense.

The issue of thoughts and fantasies is a completely different one, it seems to me, in this case -they can be good or evil independent of what anyone does. Isn't that what Jesus said?

And an important thing to keep in mind too is that Paul says "all things are lawful to me, but I won't be enslaved by anything". So it's certainly not sinful, but like anything else can be addictive to the point of harm.

I meant like fantasizing
Okay. How is having a fantasy sinful? I have fantasies about having a lightsaber- is that wrong? I have fantasies about being able to teleport and all the money I'd save from not needing a car- is that wrong? Where do you draw the line?

Yes but you dont have fantasies about having a lightsaber when youre masturbating...most likely a fantasy about having sex with a woman...and that is a sinful thought...

Matthew 5:28
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

I know it is clear in the Bible that all sexual immorality is wrong and sinful. I also know that masturbation is an act that only promotes sexually immoral thought. But recently there has been a lot of research over masturbation, and it has many supposed health benefits for men and women who touch. I was wondering if these claims were true to be scientific fact. If they are, why would God refrain us from something that would be beneficial to our health? If they are not true, are these health professionals claiming a simple correlation rather than a hard fact? Are the health benefits of masturbation minimal?

Why this subject keeps coming up over and over again in these and other Christian forums escapes me. Masturbation is not addressed anywhere in Scripture and one does not have to lust (which is a sin) to touch. It is purely a physical (mechanical) act.
