CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The problem is that single people are stuck with a hormonally produced sex drive. Years ago you just go married at puberty. Now you have puberty happening a least a decade before marriage.
Fowler, if you can find a way to turn it off safely you will be a billionaire. Single people will be flocking to purchase your product.

I would have to say that I don't believe it is a sin. I am married and have been for going on 3 years now. Before my DH and I were married he used to touch. I would prefer him doing that rather than going out and "screwing" around with some other woman. Men have to have some kind of release for that. I would prefer mine to touch rather than going out with another woman. Even as a married woman I would have to say that if my husband is in the mood and for some reason I can't or am not in to mood then a towel and some lotion should suffice... If not... I send him to the shower. . . It keeps him out of another woman's arms and it helps him release built up stress. . . so

I HAVE read a lot of history. Actually most did marry early by todays standards. There were some exceptions for royalty and people who were fortunate as well wealthy enough to pursue higher education. People that did not marry for religious reasons were the vast minority. Probably less than 0.5% of the overall global population of history.
Remember throughout history very few people were literate. So school was not a big deal. In most cultures of the world late 20s and 30s were very, very unusual ages to marry. One of the reasons was because of the lower average life spans. Yes people on occasion lived 100 years or more. But while the maximum life spans were the same as now; the median and average life spans were much lower. You were fortunate to live to a healthy 45 years during most of history.
Also due to very high infant mortality rates one did not want to waste any years of fertility. Out of 16 pregnancies perhaps seven children would live to age six. You wanted the boys/men to father ASAP as well because he might be killed in war before he could have any offspring. We seem to forget that an adolescent is a recent concept. Years ago you were either a child or an adult; there was no in-between phase.
Lastly, even the ancients were smart enough to avoid having all of these sexual people running around without spouses.
As for Jesus we dont know if he was even designed to be attracted to anyone except for in a platonic spiritual way. As far as I know, it was never mentioned that he had attraction. He seems pretty asexual.

If someone is masturbating constantly to the detriment of relationships, work, career, etc. it generally signifies a problem. I personally, have not seen anyone advocate masturbating if it will cause such interference in one's life. So, calm down with the rhetoric there.

anything that owns you or binds you except willful marriage can be "sinful.." including anything that anyone has ever deemed as 'good'yet some pervert is addicted to just that thing no matter in itself how "good and wholesome' it may appears it just doesn't stop a wicked heart from tweaking it up..
so scratching your back and cleaning your ears can come close to orgasmic, should you stop that? as if we are not sensual / having senses..but now if it owns you yes it is sin ? if it just feels good , or just because it feels good no..
it is smart to unload your gun before going someplace or with someone that might cause you irreparable damage and death to your soul ! ... yes you better unload your guns first .. then it is like taking a poop..
the point is YOU and your true heart and your truthful conscience and god in you has to remain in control of you . and if you fall then you will be bonded thus married and then you are not in control of you anymore ! the one/ones you are MARRIED to are..
Being "married" is a result of a bond created by God's laws set in motions before time and that act is "holy and irreversible", it is not really the results of a pastor doing some state ordained things.
so the goal is to be in Control of yourself..... to control and thus be able to OWN YOUR own CHOICES! notice how so many on this list try with everything they have to pass the blame as to not acknowldge their choices. well I "FELL" IN LOVE. "IT CHOSE ME!" or whatever.. it is never their fault is it?
sometimes it is not smart to run around with loaded guns.. and the bullets are part of how we are created.
so now here is a scripture "all things are lawful but not all things are beneficial" and mostly not all thing lead to life.. his life in us.. which is joy! so do what you have to do to chose life every-time. and don't release death into your life.
I suspect it just might be very beneficial to unload the gun sometimes, especially before situations you know where there might be a temptation!
