I don't see how it's any different than viewing porn, for instance. If a person is lusting over someone they don't know, they are in essence a fictional character. How does this make it not adultery? You are still wanting someone who is not your wife.

You have a point.
We cant help those "feelings" (or thoughts) when they come (they are a part of our flesh). I tell the Lord, "Im guilty" no sense denying it if we are. I dont want to justify lust or being controlled by it. Its a part of our nature (that we are not to be controlled by). We are to put that off (through the Spirit) as it pertains to being controlled by it.
IF (we) in our weakness (as we learn self control) do follow through and sin (as we might regard it) being weak we confess it. He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us. HE is not surprised at whats in us, its most often ourselves (and seeing our own selves).
I have been more mortified of myself at times. I make no pretentions about being perfect. But my perfection does not come in the flesh (as theres no good thing in it). The only good thing I have in me is in Christ. Its His power and all sufficient grace that teaches us to deny the deeds of our flesh (our passions).
We still have to keep in mind that it was while we were yet powerless He died for us. His power is made perfect in weakness. Some do wrong ignorantly, willfully, or after a weakness. I sympathize with those who are weak trying to overcome something and others condemning them. Its good for our hearts to be strengthened in grace. It irks the heck out of me when someone comes in (forgetting younger Christians) struggling. They need grace. In this particular area some can be less sympathetic and more cruel, but weakness is weakness and we attain to better self control as we grow strong in His Spirit.
This particular thread is not of my own particular weakness (in the present). So I can honestly say this does not rule in my life. I have a zip drive (like most women) in this particular area. I would appear (even "to myself") to be free from the lust of the flesh (in this area). Though I do have times (very far between, even be it ~years~ between) where it emerges and lets me know "IM STILL HERE". OK I HATE THAT
Now I know this, and I gain nothing from speaking it openly, Im not looking to gain anyone thinking more of me then what I am. It does not rule me daily, or yearly but I can take a nose dive like any of us could. When I was younger in the Lord I was much more devestated because all I could think of was how badly He wanted to send me to hell for every wrong move. I knew nothing about His love then, our obedience is "fulfilled" I didnt know that. I thought the second I come to Christ I had to be a sinless superstar. It dont work that way.
For instance, My husband loved porn, I was a new christian at the time we were married and I thought nothing of it. It never even dawned on me (not once) to feel wrong about doing that. I'd go right along with him without the slightest conviction (whatsoever). It took a few months (as I recall) and then I began (all the sudden) to feel just awful about it (and myself).
I didnt even need anyone to tell me because I KNEW this is not right (not for me). I do not doubt His ability to convict. Im so thankful for Him to do that. I was let go for ~a time~ and in His time there came THE BIG NO (and it was loud and clear). I could not resist agreeing with "that" when it came (from my own conscience) which couldnt possibly let me live in that any longer. Had it been someone else telling me I might have doubted but I had no doubts about it when HE DID IT
But now I had a whole other set of problems. The thoughts and images kept coming to mind which were both gross yet enticing (anyone who has come through this knows this well). Now I had the added pressure from my husband to watch these things (as we made this a habit) and break away from that while dealing with his protests over it (because of his lack of conviction). I was trying to figure out HOW I could be obedient to my conviction (given of the Lord) and also be obedient to my husband without being (all at the same time) disobedient to the Lord. I was going nuts. If I was around a bunch of condemning Christians (you know the kind, not all are) it would have added to the weight I was bearing already. Glad I wasnt though, I got to see firsthand (and know) His conviction through this and walk through the penalty of my own stupidity.
No doubt, there was alot of mental stuff that was going on inside of me. I felt pressed on everyside (because of my own ignorance). It was "not" easier to just cave in please my husband with it. I couldnt, because my conscience would not let me agree to it and feeling the penalty of that was far worse. I hated that time more then any other time. I felt gross, I couldnt gain any control of my own thoughts. Thoughts which kept replaying these images that seemed burned into my mind. So the very thing I might have had some sick pleasure in had now become this twisted tug of war within me. Your flesh is enticed but the new creature you are becoming in Christ wants no parts of it.
Its all going according to plan, I was just ignorant of the process.

No honestly, how can one not? Im sure its possible but it wouldnt be for me, especially if I was not married. Im married so I dont need to think of these things but I can see the dilema for those who are not.
Either way, that which is in me in Christ won over that which is weaker but it (by no means) happened over night for me. I'd be lying to say otherwise.

Clean FIRST the inside (confess them) its His to forgive and cleanse us. You know... Its like I said, He dont fall off the throne knowing all about us, we are the ones fall off ours in times of self discovery dont we?

My goal is to simply try to make you, who defend the "doing the desires of the flesh" to AT LEAST EXPRESS YOUR OPINIONS AS YOUR OWN BELIVES AND NOT THE LAWS AND WRITINGS QUOTED ABOVE IN THE BIBLE !
I will be happy if you can just do that so that our brothers and sisters in Christ will not get confused by your madness.

Wow! That was long, and I hope I didn't miss any of it. I don't think that I am disagreeing with you at all. I have compassion for those who are struggling with this. I was just responding to the original poster. I hadn't read the whole thread, and wasn't aware of the debate going on. I certainly wasn't trying to trip anyone up with guilt. I just didn't understand the difference between a fictional character and someone one didn't know. I also have come to understand the sacredness of matrimony, and the sexual union that comes with it. So I have come to view the images that the world has placed out there, and the struggles that people face because of lusting with their flesh, with great sadness because it really does strip away from the beautiful union that God meant it to be for.
