The one argument that comes close is Romans 6:13 presenting your members (body parts & functions) to God. He asks if anyone considers it to be righteous offering it to God in mb. I ask is that what people are thinking about when having sex as a married couple? Is that what Ruth was thinking about when she followed Naomi's instruction to sleep with a man she was not married to so he would by law be required to take her as his wife? So once again the argument falls down upon closer scrutiny of using the same principle in a similar comparable situation.

I still do not think that my question in a much earlier post has been answered.

If I MB to thoughts of my wife only, is this lusting? If the sin in MB is the thoughts that lead you to lusting after another woman, and your thoughts are only of your wife, where does the sin come in?

Subjective feelings are present on both sides of this argument. The level of frustration towards those with an opposing view is a good measure of them. Instead of trying to win an argument, we should be trying to learn from it.

I heard a very good sermon recently about the waywardness that can be present in both Conservative and Liberal moralists. In fact, it's not so different now than it was in Jesus' time. The rigid conservatives (ie. Pharisees) were rebuked by Jesus for lacking in love and being blind to their own sinful ways. The "progressive humanists" of the time (ie. pagans) were rebuked for pleasure-seeking to the point of sin and living according to the world. BOTH sides were warned that their lifestyles prohibited a healthy relationship with God.

If you find yourself getting frustrated when you debate here, you may want to ask yourself if you are letting the lies of Satan pull you off course. He uses our weakness in one of these three areas.

One group of Christians is a modern-day version of Pharisees. Satan encourages them to be confident in their religious standing and relative "goodness", especially when compared to the sinful nature of the rest of the world. They've made it.
Conversely, there are Christians for whom the world has improperly shaped their judgment and discernment. Satan encourages them to rationalize and follow their own compass. They just do their thing.
Finally, there are a group of Christians that is riddled with feelings of guilt, self-doubt, and condemnation. They want so badly to be what God desires, but always come up short. Satan tries to convince them that they aren't good enough for God. They feel broken.

Here's a little quiz to see which way you might lean. As I said above, consider what frustrates you most when reading threads like this.

If you get angry at sinners who try to justify their sinful actions, you may fall into category #1.
If you get angry at judgmental people who try to tell people what to do, you may fall into category #2.
If you get angry at your own inability to get past the sinful barriers in your life, you may fall into category #3.

It's not a matter of if, but which one and how much. We all have one of these predispositions, but we can work to control them and reduce their blinding effects. Each one of those lies is a distortion of something good. Doctrine (#1), freedom in Christ (#2), and conviction of the Holy Spirit (#3) are all important. Once we identify our disposition, we should work on developing the other two "good" areas.

I will admit that my weakness is #2. I am working hard to better understand scripture and praying for clear conviction of the Holy Spirit. I was only able to make progress in these areas when I became aware of my blindness to them.

I'm not 100% sure if it is okay or not to touch. I mean, what makes it a sin? And what would not make it a sin? As it isn't clearly stated in the bible. Would masturbating be considered "sexual immorality?" And it's made clear that if we -look- at someone with lust for them that we've already committed adultery. So, I'm pretty sure that's... if we're thinking of someone else lustfully. So, I guess you could touch without thinking of anyone.

I do know one thing. I believe that we are meant to have a great sexual relationship with our spouse. I mean, the scripture where it says "if you cannot contain your passions... and you want to marry, go ahead and get married for it's not a sin." So, that's like saying you're about to burn in passion, get married, and get on with it. xD So, I think God understands our passions. And as long as we're with our spouse whom we love then it seems okay.

As far as sex toys... I'm not sure either. I suppose as long as you aren't thinking of anything and are just you know, using the item then that'd be okay? Hard subject!

I think when sexual fantasies of other people are involved then it's a sin and this is also the problem with masturbation because it's hard to do it without sexual thoughts.

But if you could do it without sexual thoughts to release tension then why should it be a sin? What would be the difference between relaxing on massage chair or relaxing in a whirlpool or relaxing while masturbating? What about those who cannot afford massage chairs and whirlpools?
