This thread has been updated with quotes from the SC GL Lodge System of Masonic Education, Revised Edition, 2006. Cordially, Skip.
Seems you forgot about its "optional" status. Not sure what you "updated," but if it had anything to do with statements from SC Ahiman Rezon, the AR takes precedence, of course.

Here's the section to which you refer:
The committee recommends that the plan be known as "The Lodge System of Masonic Education." The System is herewith set forth for the Worshipful Masters of the Lodges in the Grand Jurisdiction of south Carolina.
It is simple, practicable, costs little, is employed under the immediate authority and direction of the Master of the Lodge; it works at the point where education is most needed and best appreciated, namely, with the candidate; the results, if the method is used consistently, automatically guarantee themselves; it has been tested in several Grand Jurisdictions and is endorsed by many Craft leaders and Brethren of wide experience.

The Plan in Brief

The essentials of the Lodge System of Masonic Education are:
1. The Lodge, rather than some individual, voluntary committee, or independent organization, carries it on.
2. Its purpose is to guarantee that every candidate is properly instructed in those fundamentals of the Craft which every newly made Mason ought to know.
3. The plan is capable of easy expansion to meet the need of Masonic information, by other than candidates.
4. This plan is optional with the Lodges, but if adopted, should be used in entirety.
With that out of the way, the only point is this: Do the comments within the LSME carry the weight of the GL authority? Obviously, the answer is 'yes', and what they say is therefore authoritative within the SC jurisdiction. Especially highlighting that fact is the stated fact that it is set forth for the WM's. Thus, your point about 'optional' is irrelevant.
Not sure what you "updated"

So, one of the more pertinent points made, is irrelevant? And simply because the Skipmeister says so?

Nothing you just stated changes the fact that the booklet is optional; in the same manner, nothing you just stated changes the fact that it doesn't seem to be very popular, given the lack of awareness of it. Probably has something to do with the fact that it's distributed through the Senior Wardens workshop, while it's actually set forth for the WM's. Or even more likely, it probably has to do with the fact that people engaged in degree work already have enough to do, and the idea of increasing the load for them is not a popular one.

Try my very first post. I'm sure you'll figure it out.
No need. My point was, I don't really care, because it doesn't really matter, so I haven't bothered to look. It would only be more of Skip Sampsonspeak, trying to assert an optional LSME booklet over the authoritaty of our ritual, code, and constitution. Since that dog won't hunt anyway, I wouldn't have any plans of acquiring him, so I have no interest in examining the dog in the first place.
