I'd like to open this thread with a prayer:
Lord God, please use this thread to bring forth truth and light, use this to lead us closer to your Son Jesus, through whatever means you may do so. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
I'd like to show some scriptures that show the catholic understanding of Mary. I'd love to discuss these with anyone who wants to.
Why God choses certain people to help Him
"God opposes the proud but bestows favor on the humble." 1 Peter 5:5
"Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted." Matthew 23:12
"And coming to her, (the angel) said, 'Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you."
"For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed." Luke 1:48
I would venture to say, since Mary was the most favored person to have ever lived, she is also the most exalted. Why do I condsider her the most favored? Because she is the person who, of all people who ever lived, got to be closest to Jesus.
"Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb." Luke 1:42
God chooses the humble to help him, people who are humble enough to obey him, as oppsed to the proud who will not obey God, choosing their own path. Mary, of all people, had the most important work ever, outside of Christ, who is God. To not only give birth to Jesus, but to raise him. For Jesus
"advanced in wisdom and age and favor before God and man." Luke 2:52
in other words, Jesus learned. And Mary taught Him (they homeschooled in those days).
