Dear ones,
My wife and I have been married 22 years and we are buying our first home. Our girls (19, 15, and 10 )are so happy! Honestly, it has been a mighty difficult process since the economic fallout of the past year. I feel like the bank has numbered every hair on my head!
The closing is scheduled for Friday at 3:00 PM (seems appropriate dosen't it?). I ask your prayers that the final phase of this goes as smoothly as possible. I thank you, and in all things His will be done.
Warm regards,
Douglas Francis
Wow! Now I know what the "Islander" in your name means.....
Yes, I lived there, too, for most of my life. Be grateful you didn't buy your first home two or three years ago, because the prices were much worse then.
After I moved into the land of affordable acreages (well, I still live in a small city, but we do have more than an acre of land) there were some things I missed. Be grateful. On Long Island, we always felt a sense of community. Neighborhoods were close to stores, schools, churches, baseball fields. My older two could ride their bikes almost anywhere by the time we moved.
And when we moved to a home in the far St. Louis suburbs that was downright palatial compared to our home in NY, we were two miles from the nearest public building and had to drive in the car to get anywhere.
My family still lives on Long Island. It takes patience and fortitude to live there--oh the virtues you're developing.
People who live in the city really lead a healthy way of life. They climb about 20 flights of stairs a day and walk miles and miles. Here in the boonies my garage is attached to my house, and the only crowded parking lots I encounter are Wal-Mart's.
We didn't spend much time at Islanders' games (well, my hubby did, if his company gave him tickets) but had part season tix to the Express and the Storm (indoor soccer.)
We saw the Mets on our last visit home. Talk about expensive! Oy vey! I couldn't believe it.
Anyway, many blessings on your new home purchase. Enjoy the beaches. We went to Fire Island this past visit, because I hadn't been there since I was a kid. The scenery was breathtaking.
