Mark of the beast. What is it?

I got to thinking the other day, what is it about the "mark" that prevents anoyne on earth from buying or selling anything without it?

I mean, suppose the mark has been instituted. If I didn't take the mark, and I got the neighbor kid (who also didn't take the mark) to mow my lawn all summer in exchange for a load of firewood I cut myself, Then I have effectively "Bought" a summers worth of cut grass with the currency of "wood", and he has effectivey "Bought" a load of firewood with the currency of lawn mowings.

The Bible seems to indicate that even this type of "open trade" would be impossible without the mark, but I just can't seem to reason "How" this type of exchange could possibly be prevented by the simple absense of a "Mark" on my forehead.

Anyone have any insight about how refusing the mark would prevent me from sucessfully engaging in this type of "free trade" practice?

I'm not familiar with prophecy of end times in the Bible. Could someone please give me some scriptures to look up supporting the rapture and mark of the beast etc. I'm not doubting what you all are saying, just I would like to read about these in the Bible.

Thanks

Hi,
do you believe the Word completely? (All the Bible as the Word of God)
There is a short cut for understanding scripture if one really believes & trusts God. That is called faith of course! But when God says something, does one believe it, this is the question? Or do we say, yes I know, but, o' aw,er'???
If you do believe, say so & I will print two test verses for you to use for sure fire shortcuts for understanding the Markof the Beast + much more.

My understanding is that it will have more to do with engaging in trading with approved vendors. You won't be able to go to the 7-11, but you & I can still trade with each other. Something like that.

Thank you for that.

Could you cite which scripture leads you to that conlusion? As far as I can tell, the Bible simply says  no one will be able to buy or sell without the mark.

Where did you find the part about "approved vendors"? I'd be most interested to read it.

Thanks
