Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. Psalms 144:1-2
I was out teaching at my brothers MMA club on Monday, working throws and take-downs. These guys come from all different walks of life and even though they compete against each other they have a genuine affection for each other. When they compete in MMA events, and they do, they don't hate the guy standing across from them. To use 1 John in such a way shows you don't understand combat sports.1 John 4

They is definitely an intent to harm when you sack a QB or take a running back out at the knees.

I didn't find the video that difficult to understand.
Driscoll is saying men are aggressive and it's part of how they were created. He also said those who tend to pass judgement on the aggressive nature that leads to combat sports tend to lack understanding of it. (fat and lazy comment) Men are aggressive by nature and will seek competition in different ways to satisfy their inherent need for competition.
A good example, the intellectual one-upmanship on these forums, I quote a verse and someone else (misquotes) a verse. If you are have been humbled by God is it humble to boast about it? (that was a competitive one-upmanship statement used as an example)

In fact you could use anyone of the arguments against Christians watching or practicing MMA against football, boxing, wrestling...heck, even arm wrestling. Have you even competed on the football field? They is definitely an intent to harm when you sack a QB or take a running back out at the knees.
Nothing will be safe until we are all in touch with our feelings and greet one another with "hi de ho neighbour."

I totally disagree with his statements regarding what men are "made to do." I thought we were made to glorify God! Ya know - I have always loved Driscol but the more I see stupid video clips like this the more I have to wonder about the guy.
In regards to MMA and UFC - I understand the sport and have enjoyed watching it from time to time. But let's not make it into something spiritual, Mark! There will be no MMA and UFC competitions in heaven. Men were not made to fight - fighting is a result of the fallen human nature. Get a clue, Mark....
