i never really got into him but i do know some history about marilyn manson. i know that his dad is a pastor of a church and i know that marilyn manson is a registered satanic pastor. that just seems a little dark to me...but i guess your entitled to your opinion. he also does rip bibles during his concert and chant F*** god...so in my opinion if your a christian i dont think you should be allowing that kind of stuff in. garbage in garbage out. after all lucifer was the angel of music before his fall....why do you think the music world is so powerful...hmmm...i would be careful with that power...

lol...too many people believing idiotic rumours and taking things out of context... Here's the thing: He is NOT a 'registered Satanic pastor'. He is a REVEREND of the Church of Satan. There's a big difference. A Reverend in Satanism is nothing more than someone revered and respected. Being a Satanist, I would know that. He stated in his book, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell [close to the bottom of page 164 for reference], this: "I'm not, and have never been a spokesperson for Satanism." Also, as far as I know His father isn't a pastor of a church. [which isn't to say that he is not, but...just wanted ask you if you had a reliable reference for that.]

Hm...yeah, as far as the ripping bibles up at concerts goes, that's true. I would just like to know how that affects you listening to His music [mainly concerning songs that don't deal with His ideals on religion] while jogging or anywhere for that matter. Hm...not to say that music isn't powerful with the right emotions and assuming you don't believe Lucifer and Satan were the same being because there is no proof...why does Lucifers fall have anything to do with how powerful music actually is?

As far as Marilyn Manson goes, He's my favorite musician and entertainer obviously [and I think He's the best looking ]...He's good at what He does. If you don't have 'In the Shadow of the Valley of Death', '(s)AINT', 'Coma White', and 'Coma Black'...I definitely suggest those. They're great songs I'm also into all of His covers...He does them way better heh Well, talk l8r.

thank you for correcting me on that info. im glad you set it straight. and btw lucifer and satan are the same people...lucifer was an angel before he fell and was condemed to hell under his new name satan. i still however wouldnt listen to marilyn manson anyways....but thats just me.

There's nothing wrong with listening to Manson, Manson and NIN got me through some tough teenage years. If you want to listen to Manson while jogging, then do it, the music won't turn you into a bad person.

People shouldn't believe everything they hear about Manson. My favorite rumour is the rib one, or the Halloween one, or others, I can't make up my mind.

"Personal Jesus" is not Manson's song. He just performs it. As have many others. Rackets and Drapes fo a good cover of it too.

P.S. "Personal Jesus" is a song about Humanism over any Deism(sp?), and promotes the idea that humanity can save itself from Hell and sin.

Wrong. "Personal Jesus" is referencing Priscilla Presley's relationship with Elvis. Depeche Mode wrote it in the 80s. It also could be taken as speaking out about the hypocritical televangelists that were so popular during that time period.



And as far as covers go, I prefer Gravity Kills' version of it.

When it comes to Manson, I'm not really that into their music, but I do like "Dope Show" and the cover of "Tainted Love". But that's pretty much it.

Ugh, another Manson thread.

Manson is a business man. He saw something that would sell and he did it and did it well. What he does on stage and off stage are two completely different things. He is a character on stage much like an actor is in a movie. Off stage, he's not at all creepy. In fact, he's a pretty normal guy.

The band MarilynManson, started out with lyrics that people didn't want to hear, but where very insightful. I think that Brian Warner, the artist, is now just living off shock value nowadays. He's has an interesting philosophy on life, questionable to many people, but definately interesting. Personally i love his music. Didn't care for his cover of "personal jesus' at all though. I have Marilyn Manson and the SPooky Kids TAPES from back in the early 90s when we lived in Ft.Lauderdale. And for the last time...

Also...of course He isn't all 'creepy' in real life, yes...He is an entertainer, He puts on shows. That isn't to say though that He doesn't believe the things He claims or feel the things He says He does. I too find His outlook on life and His beliefs very interesting.

Another thing...I don't understand why being an entertainer is looked down upon...

"personal jesus" was a horrible song when it was first written and it's horrible now, regardless who performes it. The Rackets & Drapes version made me want to poke out my eyes (along with the rest of their songs-- ugh!)... The Manson version was also annoying. Perhaps the least annoying version is Johnny Cash's... however, even as much as I love Johnny, I still can't like it.

He's a great entertainer and other than a slight arrogance is not such a bad guy, from what i hear from people who've met the man. i respect his sucess.

But...yeah, I would have to agree that Antichrist Superstar was a very important album, and probably His best...although, I really like The Last Tour on Earth and Holy Wood .

anyway, you seem to know the guy real well, why don't you make a thread with all the information you have on him. Why? It seems most everyone is confused when they hear about MM so why don't you put it all on the table and give us the full monty, so theres no more questions and confusions because everything will be explained... in your explanation.

I tried the same thing with my Genre's of Metal thread, in order to end questions and confusions (not sure if it worked though)
