No, I just don't think that there is any evidence to suggest that Christ's return has to happen during my lifetime.
Yes, there is.
LOL!
Is the return of the Lord so scary for you because of the way you are leading your life?
After all, judgment is coming!
I am not scared of it at all. If it happens it would be fabulous. Odds are ALL of us here will die before it happens, so why not focus on how to live here-and-now instead of 'pie in the sky, by and by?'
Excuse me but your false interpretation of the Hosea 6 passage hardly constitutes "proof" that Christ is returning in the near future. When you are let down for the failing and the falsehood of your heart I pray that God gives you the grace to sustain your relationship with him.
You want to take that chance that Jesus doesn't restore Israel on the 3rd day, that's up to you.
You are misinterpreting the Hosea 6 passage based upon your false hermeneutic. Read any commentary or listen to any sound bible teacher on the passage none will agree with your interpretation.
Gee, this is an ESCHATOLOGY forum and we're discussing ESCHATOLOGY!
If you don't want to discuss the end times and the return of the Lord, then what are you doing here?

Why would I read some man's opinion, CityofGod?
I can read the Word of God.
You are placing a man's opinion above what God says in Scripture, through the prophets.
It's your choice whether you want to believe what God said or not.
So eschatology is only important to you if the end times are imminent?
Definition of ESCHATOLOGY
1
: a branch of theology concerned with the final events in the history of the world or of humankind
2
: a belief concerning death, the end of the world, or the ultimate destiny of humankind; specifically : any of various Christian doctrines concerning the Second Coming, the resurrection of the dead, or the Last Judgment
Eschatology - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary
We've been living in the last days since Jesus went to the cross.
God sends Jesus back for the 3rd day. It's been 2 days. That return IS imminent.
Act 3:21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.
Hsa 6:1 "Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.
Hsa 6:2 After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.
Hsa 6:3 Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth."
I am reading the Word of God but I am not coming up with the same interpretation for the Hosea 6 passage and neither do any bible scholars. Your interpretation is incorrect. It's that simple. The passage has nothing to do with 2 or 3 thousand years. You have a false hermeneutic. That is why I am urging you to listen to some sound bible teaching. So that your false interpretation of God's word can be fixed. Only a heretic would be opposed to listening to commentaries and sound bible teaching.
Let me guess.
Those "sound bible teachings" in those "commentaries" tell us that God rejected Israel forever and there is no millennial reign of Christ.
Am I right?
Yeah...I'm going to stick with God over those "sound bible teachings" found in your "commentaries".
How many generations have lived and died expecting that Jesus was going to return in their lifetime? Virtually all of the apostles did.
Now, they were wrong, but you aren't? Is your understanding somehow superior to theirs?
Read any commentary. Take your pick. None of them will agree that the 3 days of Hosea 6 are 3 thousand years. You have a false hermeneutic. Your false interpretation is what I have a problem with.
You are placing commentaries (opinions of men) above Scripture.
I don't care what other men think. I care about what God said.
Yes, our understanding is superior to theirs because we have the benefit of perspective - looking backwards 2000 years and seeing the reviving of the nation of Israel in the last century, in fulfillment of prophecy.
Not true because you are giving your own interpretation and man made opinion on the text. You are giving the opinion that the 3 days = 3 thousand years. This is an incorrect opinion. The reading of scholars opinions prove this to be so.
Here's a "hermeneutic" for you:
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Gee, how oh how could I possibly apply that hermeneutic found in Scripture to other Scripture??
The nation of Israel was desolated in the 1st century and revived in the 20th century. That's 2000 years.
How, oh how, could I possibly apply that Scripture that says "one day is as a thousand years" to the fact that Israel would be revived after two days and restored on the third?
How about when Jesus said that Israel would not see him again until they say, "blessed is He who COMES in the name of the Lord"?
Matt 23:37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. 38 Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
