Why do you guys always talk in terms of 'sin'?

Can't something be 'morally wrong' but not a sin?

A non believer could think it 'morally wrong' to listen to Manson but they can't call it a 'sin'.

The world does not evolve around Christianity, their philosphy, terminology etc, jeez.

Anyways personally I think Manson is an amazingly talented musician. The Dope Show & Holywood are great albums.

Morals in society can change, whereas what is a sin doesn't. Thus, what is morally wrong now might not be morally wrong in fifty years, whereas a sin would still be a sin, no matter how large a time period elapsed.

No, it's not a sin, and no, it's not immoral. What may be immoral and/or sinful is doing a sin or committing a crime that is inspired by the music. Even so, it isn't the fault of the music, it's your own bad choice.

Merilyn manson to me is a satanist. What he does is not Christian(duh) but I beleive listening to that music is like reading a fantasy book. As long as you know what the truth is and as long as you are strong enough in your faith that you could not be moved by some words and temptations of his songs. I mean he is DEFFINANTLY not a form of worship. I beleive that God isnt happy with what you are doing but just like Salvation he leaves that up to you. It is not necessarily a sin unless you fall into it. I cant think of one off the top of my head but I can garuntee you that there is a hardcore Christian band that could fulfill your need for that style of music.

Let me encourage and enlighten everyone that I am not saying that is OK to listen to him cuz I personally dont like him but if he really likes that style of music let him make the choice, it is not up to me nor any of you to tell him what is good and bad. Let him be the judge of that. So please please please dont get me wrong on what I said.

Ok, so its not a sin to listen to music such as Marilyn Manson, but is it edifying for a Christian who wants to walk closely with God?

Many verses in the bible encourage us to dwell on the things of God, not of this earth.

Philippians 4: 8-9

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praise worthy- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

It's like this kid i know. His whole family from what I'm told, listens to death metal bands, and i know this kid listens to some seemingly satanist music. Yet, his whole family attends church almost regularly, and I actually got into an argument with the kid over evolution, since I'm an evolutionist christian.

i personally dont listen to him alot, i also think he is an amazingly talneted musician and a very intelligent man, i even think that some (read that again SOME, not all) of his ideas in his music are cool, mostly the ones that are against the business world using and mainpulating children/teens to make more $$, but i dont like all of his ideals and therefore im careful about what of his i do listen to and always make sure i dont follow any of his ideologies very closely

The more you grow as a christian, the more you realize how often you sin. If sin is missing God's mark of perfection, then it probably is a sin to listen to Manson. However, what about all the other bands who don't say anything edifying? What about the 'christian' bands that don't say anything convicting.
