  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Since I came to college and can actually get my hands of this stuff, I've been devouring any and all manga/anime I can. Anyvody have any ideas as to where I should begin? I prefer Manga suggestions over Anime ones (partially because manga can be read in the lunch-line, at dinner, in class, ect. and partially 'cause my friend has a very nice manga library) but anime suggestions are nice too. ^_^ I've pretty much got a blank slate to start with ^_^ And just as a note, it doesn;t bother me if their not exactly "Christian" or even kinda very Not-Christian ^_^

Hmm, what kind of anime/manga do you like?

I would recommend Bleach if you like action and you can get it in both manga or anime form. Also Ranma 1/2 (good comedy & my first anime ever :)).
Akira or Ghost in the Shell are both good movies, and I would say that the Vampire Hunter D novels and movies are good. Witch hunter Robin is also very good.

As for good manga, Azumanga Daioh is a good comedy, Full Metal Panic and Fullmetal Alchemist are good choices.

I'll second Bleach, both the anime (up till the filler, *gag*), and the manga, though I've only just started reading it myself, but it comes with high recs from my room mate.

I thought Kenshin was also a good show up to a point, and the manga was good stright through.

I also really like the Scrapped Princess anime, but I haven't gotten around to the manga yet.

The anime Tsubasa Chronicle is also good, and I've heard from friends that the manga is very good as well.

That and I'll second everything that willard3 said.

Hope you can find something to suit your tastes!

and another vote for Bleach

This is only reminding me of how badly I need to catch up on all the anime I have packed away and haven't watched yet. I've got a queue running back 'til early 2005. The ones I listed were ones I was compelled to watch over the others that were just sitting around, and were well worth it (there were some other series I'd watched in that time also, like Azumanga Daioh and The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya, which are both good, but they didn't stick out as much to me).

It depends. It just depends what you are into. There are many manga/anime styles out there. I personally cannot stand the cutesy, cheesy, Sailor Moon kinda' crap... but that's just me.

I would reccomend you check out Full Metal Alchemist, the manga and the anime both. It is the series that REALLY got me hooked.

Cowboy Bebop, also rocks.

Inuyasha, is okay...a lot of people seem to get into that one.

Trigun-- I am actually going to start on this series, when I get through with Cowboy Bebop. I'll let you know how it is.

I like deep story lines, great animation--so I like things that are a little more complex. So--I dont know if my suggestions would help any.

And Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire http://www.dominic-deegan.com/ You can buy the first volume of it as a manga, but really, its cheaper and probably easier to just read through on the internet. Use your history to figure out where you left off, because its pretty long by now.
