  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is that why every third commercial on TV is a plea for someone to sue on behalf of the product they've been using?
No, it just demonstrates that Lawyers are the lowest life on earth. They are not interested in the truth at all, just winning their case and collecting their fees. And barely above them, though questionable are politicians, every one of them.

Does it matter?

They certainly didn't go there to die.

As I understand it, they were to move on to their final destination: Russia.

There have been many mass suicides based on religious beliefs av.

So those having problems with their product are just faking it?

Perhaps you would tell us why Vioxx was taken off the market?

Did someone fake his death?

How about the girl who died from Toxic Shock Syndrome taking a Rely product?

All I am saying is that the profession readily abused.

How do you know?

Do you sit in on all the trials?

Are you privy to all the settlements?

40 years is still short enough that first hand eye witnesses would still be alive to give their testamony.

Well, considering they would've been in their 20s-30s at the time, that puts them, at the very least, 60s-70s... in an era where life expectancy asn't as impressive as it is now.

They would have probably be as old as a Vietnam vet, chief. Unless you are suggesting that Vietnam vet testamonies are an unreliable source for historians your argument means nothing. Poor veterans.

Right -- because everything available to today's veterans was available to the average peasant 2,000 years ago. Poor you.

Quite high, with the right peer pressure among the 11 and group think involved.

This is why i find psychology so interesting. Ever hear of the Jonestown mass suicide?

What are the odds of 2/3 of the worlds population disagreeing with your religious belief, being wrong?
This is not about the 2/3 of other people. I dont know why you keep bringing it up. The mass suicide in Jonestown was a result of brainwashing and manipulation in order to make his followers believe out of faith that Jim Jones was true. The apostles did not believe in the resurrection out of faith! They believed because they claimed to have witnessed the resurection! No faith or brainwashing required!

When you can demonstrate they witnessed anything with credible evidence, please present. Simply repeating they witnessed something, falls short.

And, there have been many mass suicides related to religious beliefs, because those people believed.

You are still, missing the point. People die for, religious belief because they believe it's true. They don't die because they believe it's false. The apostles, who witnessed Jesus death and ressurection died because they knew it was truth and not a lie. I,am not talking about everyone who dies for a belief. Muslim terrorists die for their belief and kill, for it to. That doesn't make their belief true anymore than those who, believed in Him Jones.

I am talking about people dying for a hoax that they willingly participated in. The apostles preached the death and ressurrection as truth. It was with true or a hoax. They would not die willingly for a hoax.

Of course, they didn't live to the hundreds of years you're required to believe they once did, but they are stretching things a bit, don't you think?

I believe his point was that the life expectancy then was nowhere near what it is today.

Yes, indeed -- that is the point he is required to duck and cover from.
