What is offensive? Anything that anyone finds offensive, which is literally everything. We don't need more stupid laws, we need less.Don’t go posting offensive things online. Seems obvious. UK is not America where being awful to people is not frowned upon. People in the UK are held to a higher, better standard of decorum.
Obviously.
We already have laws that prohibit killing each other.Always such a shame when that higher standard includes shooting each others faces off when they slightly annoy each other. Maybe there could be some way of avoiding Americans annoying and killing each other?
A law, perhaps?

What about saying communism, socialism or Marxism is fine?Good. Garbage options can take a hike.
When people say “the Jews will not replace us” or “the gays deserve to die” or “let’s shoot FBI agents” or “Christian Nationalism is fine” they should reap what they sow.
Hateful people are bad for society. They deserve all they get.
That's true. I thought liberals were opposed to locking up non violent offenders.Well we have laws, but then the left makes excuses for the violent and just let's them out. Why? Because prison doesn't work. But by golly it WILL work for people who post memes we don't like.
Just a reminder about the OP. This is about uk law passed not by the left, but by Margaret Thatcher, and after 12 years of the right being in charge still in place.Well we have laws, but then the left makes excuses for the violent and just let's them out. Hold on...searches diligently, hmm... Can't find anything in America that hold people to a high standard for shooting people in the face for annoying you.
I believe people who do that end up in prison. I would assume that being in prison isn't a high standard that everyone supports.
You're offending me as a Yank, a cis-male, and a Millwall supporter. I want you jailed immediately for being an offensive git.Don’t go posting offensive things online. Seems obvious. The geniuses in Blighty, however, only believe it works for people who say naughty things. But the geniuses in America still think locking people up will work
Im responding to the idea that it is just the left prosecuting people for speech. Just flat out false. That makes it better?
Agreed, in this case surely the posts broke the terms and conditions of the website used, and the poster banned.Hopefully we can keep criminal penalties for abusive/demeaning/hateful/etc speech from spreading in the US the way it has in some other countries. Free speech is a fundamental part of American culture, and deciding what is offensive is just too subjective. Civil courts could have a role in some cases, but that could easily get out of hand.
I think there was an attempt by the current administration to regulate some speech but it got shutdown due to the backlash.Hopefully we can keep criminal penalties for abusive/demeaning/hateful/etc speech from spreading in the US the way it has in some other countries. Then America with it’s incredibly large prison population must be on the ninth or tenth steps.Putting people in jail for this is a first step.
Really? Who has the more violent society? America or England? The proof is in the pudding. We don't need more stupid laws, we need less.
That don’t seem to really work when you think about how many murders per 100,000 take place in America, though. We already have laws that prohibit killing each other.
Up to snuff? You mean breaking the law? Yes: that how laws and crime work.Right and if aren't up to snuff we'll just toss you in prison. Nothing authoritarian about that at all.
Crikey! You can’t tell the difference? You can’t see how sociological theories are different to antisemitism and racism, white supremacy and calls for violence? What about saying communism, socialism or Marxism is fine?
