Major CF Server Cluster Upgrades - Scheduled Downtime

It's not finished yet! 
The techs have only upgraded 2 of the webservers - there are a few more to go. And the LVS servers are not up yet. These 2 webservers have some issues and ChrisBot is not working on them (but he is on the older servers). I'll check it out.

Perhaps giving Chrisbot the responsibility to work on them might not have been such a great idea! lol!It's not finished yet!

Update - it's likely the rest of the CF webservers will be swapped to new boxes with 3Gb RAM and CentOS tonight. Also, the db servers may also be upgraded - not sure yet. The LVS servers are taking longer than expected to set up.

Okay, all webservers upgraded, just waiting on the 2 database servers, image/IRC server and setup of the LVS servers.

Okay, in a while CF will go offline for ONE HOUR to migrate the database and image servers to new hardware and OS. I think Dan or Steve, one of the techs, will post in here right before it happens.

Apache 2 causes our web servers to hang at high loads.
The tech I'm hiring recommended to return to Apache 1 (which we were using prior to moving to this new datacentre). Lighttpd also hung at high loads too.
Apache 1 seems to be working well (bearing in mind I also upped the RAM on all webservers to 3 Gb).
We are now on our new database server.
Image server about to be upgraded very soon.

Funny. I've had the opposite experience with Apache - however that was for a different platform.
I still maintain that implementing a good forward proxy will probably solve all your problems and they are simple to implement. You could have one up and running in half an hour and you can run as many as you like in conjunction with a layer 4 switch.

Okay, the image server is offline and is being upgraded.
The techs are encountering an issue with it, and so it's offline until it's fixed.
The IRC server is going to be down for a day or two as we upgrade the rest of our servers as well.

Okay, image and attachment server is up and running - no problems so far.
IRC server still down but will be sorted out soon.
Slave database server will need to be upgraded at some stage.
People should see a dramatic increase in speed at the moment. Yes?
