If your parents really think goblins exist then im not sure what you can do. Thats a bit extreme and odds are logic may not work on them. What if you discussed putting together a deck that doesnt have goblin/zombie/ and things of that nature. There are plenty of angel cards, knight cards, and clerics. In fact i have a great all white cleric deck list i could give you that has a combo that gives you infinite life. Then you could show that you are supporting the forces of good. The second option is to graduate highschool early, go to college, and be free.

I need help with the issue of Magic Cards. I am only 17, so I am following what my parents say, but they say I cannot play this game because it involves summoning creatures that are unholly and that "Goblins, demons, etc. all exsist in the real world and that I am actually summoning these." Please tell me how to convince them that this is not true. Keep in mind though that when Pokemon was big they litteraly said it was the devil.

ahh, well in there eyes, this game is EVIL. I highly doubt that they would ever let you play it. ...my parents are the same way... and there is usually only one way around it.

..and i have been playing for 2 years... and protection always confuses me. T_T

Protection has the following properties:

1. Creatures can't block creatures that have protection from them. So if I attack you with my White Knight (which has protection from black), you can't block it with black creatures.

2. Creatures with protection can't be targeted with spells or abilities of a type that they have protection from. So you can't cast terror on my White Knight, because you'd need to target him, and he can't be targeted by black cards. Likewise a Silver Knight (protection from red) can't be targeted by the damage-dealing ability of a goblin sharpshooter, since that is a red card.

3. All damage done to creatures from a source they are protected from is reduced to zero. So let's say I have my Silver Knight and you cast earthquake for 2. So far there's nothing to prevent the Silver Knight from dieing, since the Earthquake is not targeting him. But this rule prevents all the damage from the earthquake, so my Silver Knight lives to fight another day. If my Silver Knight blocks your Hill Giant, the combat damage dealt to him is reduced to zero as well.

4. Creatures can't be enchanted by enchantments they have a protection from. So let's say that I enchanted your creature with pacifism, and you somehow give it protection from white. The enchantment immediately goes to the graveyard, since it can no longer enchant your creature.

That's it. It should be noted that there are some situations in which cards of a type a creature has protection from will still harm them. An example is Wrath of God and creatures with protection from white. There's nothing to do with blocking here, the spell doesn't target creatures, doesn't deal damage, and doesn't enchant anything. So protection does nothing to stop it and creatures with protection from white will still die.

Well, Arcbound Ravagers are going to be incredibly popular come Regionals. They go well with the R/B Affinity. However, I don't believe they will do too well. Everyone will be prepared for it. Just play a Wing Shards and they are destroyed. Ravager Affinity relies on sacrificing just about all their Artifacts into it, so, if you just stop the attack they will be left broken.

.heh, thats the only one i seem to forget. lol D.E.B.T
D for damage
E for enchant
B for blocking
T for target

..silly me, i always remember the ryme after somone reminds me ^_^;

and i am not suprised Arcbound Ravager is so pricy, its great in myr decks (wich easily get 30 1/1's all indestrucable) so, its a really great card to have in there. (notice myr's are kinda like the new slivers.)

and i have NEVER had wing shards played on me, but it usually doesn't matter, i use a U/W/G deck, with a few counters, so i dont have a problem with them.

and midnight, is your deck posted on the net anywhere? I am curiouse to see how it works. URW doesn't usually work out.

Land 18
4x Seat of Synod

4x Great Furnace
3x Ancient Den
3x Darksteel Citadel

Sideboard

Either

4x COP Red
4x Pyroclasm
3x Damping Matrix
4x WingShards

or

3x COP Red
3x Pyroclasm
3x Damping Matrix
3x Echoing Truth
3x Sacred Ground (If W/U or MWC are really big in your area it keeps those lands safe)

The deck works really great in my metagame. However, I still havent tested against Ravager Affinity *no one wants to put out that much money to make the deck*

Here are the general way you handle some match ups

Ravager affinity.

Like i said, i havent tested this, but in theory, here is how i would play it. First, pray i go first so i can counter a turn 2 ravager. Aether Spell bomb is your friend. They wont sacrifice too much if they know you are just going to bounce their ravager before damage hits the stack. Save the pyrites for Deciple of the vault. Drop broodstar as early as you can to keep ornithomter in check. Its not an easy match.

After sideboarding, things *should* get better. Get rid of the AA's and maybe even some overides, Ravager Affinity is too fast to counter everything. Bringing the Pyroclasms. It will force them to do things they dont want to such as sacrifice things prematurely because they dont want to lose the ravager. It also clears out ornithopther and diciple as well as Arcbound workers. Sure, theyll just sacrifice it all to Ravager in response, but it limits their board options. You may want to side in Echoing Truth, +1/+1 counters hate bounce. Damping Matrix should aslo come in, perhaps at the expense of the Talismans. you want that Matrix down Turn three. It totally throws their game off.

Clamp Bidding - Side in the COP Red and Pyroclasms. Side out the Assert Authorities and Aether spell bombs. Maybe a Pyrite spell bomb or 2 if you want to sub in 4 COP and 4 Pyro. DO NOT LET BIDDING RESOLVE!!! The deck has at least 8 counters at any given time, 10 if you dont sub out the A.A.'s. In the first match just try to drop an every enforcer and counter as much as you can. Blow stuff up with pyrite, then drop Brood Star and swing. After sideboarding the match should be a joke. Once COP hits the field you are in good shape. Clear the field with pyroclasm and just start swinging.

U/W or MWC control

First match just try and stop Akromas Vengence from resolving. If they get it to go off you probably lost. Second match, Sub in Sacred grounds and the Echoes just in case you need to bounce soldier tokens. Dont over commit to the field if they use a lot of Obilvion stones. Once again, as long as you can stop the vengence's from resolving, things should be ok.

W/R Slide- no clue, havent tested. Try to counter Slide and lightning rift. Hope for a early lighting grieves. Not sure what I would sideboard. Maybe Matrixes to stop their main enchanments.

Elves!

Really Really pain in the butt. They pack so much artifact hate it isn't funny. I dont have much advice for the first match up, hope you get luck. After sideboarding things get better. Sub in pyroclasms. If Elves are really popular by you, run four Pyros in the sideboard and use every last one of them. They can help you contain your opponents board. Also think about using Matrix. Its going to be a bit target for them, but it stops timberwatch, wellwisher, and things of that nature.

hope this helps

Here are some sideboard suggestions

If you are really really afraid of Ravager, and U/W control isnt bing in your area, throwShatters in your board instead of Sacred Grounds or Echoing Truths.

If you are really afraid Slide, switch Darksteel Citadels for Tree of Tales in the main deck, and add naturalize to the sideboard.

I don't believe that Blue/White Control will be much anymore. Skullclamp pretty much destroyed it. Though there will of course be a few patches of it at Regionals. I'm expecting Goblin Bidding of course to pick up the most top 8s. 12 Post just might make an appearance, but it gets massacred by RG Land destruction. I am expecting Slide to do well. As I previously mentioned, Ravafinity won't do nearly as much as expected. Look out for this rogue Mono Red deck coming out of the Midwestern Regionals, it is going to sweep the tournament. :)

goblin is ALWAYS in the top list. but that deck seems pretty good, but...I would suggest some City Of Brass. its always great in 3 colour decks. ...plus it frees up some time. but i can be a little bit of a hassle. ..not sure if there still type two though...

MABEY complicate. (seeing as it isn't an artifact)

but this is a interesting deck, i wonder how it would work out in play.

I would think of dropping talisman of progress. ...but i could see why you wouldn't want to. ...but i wouldn't trust my judgment on decks like this...since i dont really play them...

but are you a tourney player btw? but right now, the only problem decks for me are myr, and controll is annoying...but i am betweeen decks right now anyway.

yup i play tournies. The Talismans are nice because the get that broodstar out 2 turns faster (counts once for affinity and produces mana) aslo, with all the counterspells, extra mana is nice to have around.

what exactly is a "myr" deck. I havent seen too many decks based around them, but if you describe the deck i could give you some help

ok, with myrs... they hit hard, they hit in the masses, and there all indestruticble. thats the best way I could explain it. I played against 2 the other day, and one RAPED me, and the other one was just...well, a bad deck.

I have been thinking of making one, and bevleave me, you will hit alot of them in the tourney. IMO there the best decks right now. ...and the ones with couters are evil...

many of these have

Myr Incubator
Myr Matrix
Myr Retriever
and there are just myr's, wich give more mana. and there is a myr that lets you tap it, put one charge counter on a card. or sac it, and put 2 on the card.
Lodestone Myr
Broodstar (of course)
Arcbound Ravager

...just mean cards... and somhow, this guy my friend was playing against, all his myrs where indestructible. lol, and he was able to get coat of arms out. ...scary, he ended the game with 30 somod myrs, and a arcbound ravager, and a broodstar.

but i have thought about making a myr deck. there alot of fun to play.
