In other words, you are worried that there are thousands of different interpretations, but you have one of them yourself. The only difference is that most of those other people come to a conclusion after reading the word of God, while you simply say "I'll take that one."

Seriously? Do you believe that Satan actually doesn't care about the Bible? I think you know he does. The last thing he wants is for people to know what it really says because then he can keep people from the truth of their salvation in Christ.

But you do have to light one of these candles in order to have the angels repeat your prayer until it burns out. That's the quaint legend, anyway--and the only reason for lighting one of these candles instead of just offering a prayer.

If you've actually read my posts, you know that is not true. I have no hatred for Catholics. My own mother was raised Catholic and her parents and grandparents were Catholic as well. I love Catholics. I have family and friends who are Catholic as well, to this day.

Look at all the candles lit in the world near disasters etc (9/11 example). Were people forced to light them? Were people given the candles free? Do you think God will ignore prayers from anyone who didn't light a candle?

Right....I think you need to do some more research. You make a mockery of all those who died so that people could read the Bible for themselves, without having to bow to the Catholic Church and what the Papacy told them to believe.

Satan actually loves it when people are kept in the dark, and he can ensure it stays that way if the Bible is kept from people, or if they are discouraged from reading it for themselves.

I am not bitter, I can assure you. Do you suppose I hated my own grandparents? You cannot possibly understand how my heart breaks that perhaps they did not know that they did not, for instance, need to fear that they would go to Purgatory, because Christ had already washed away their sins if they truly believed in Him.

You know very little about me, and you should probably ask before deciding that you know where I'm coming from with my concerns.

But yes, as I am not the topic of this thread, back on topic.

The word of God makes everything clear. It's called discernment, granted by the Holy Spirit. I trust God's word more than any words and/or traditions of man. I wish the same for everyone.

As I have said repeatedly, I did once consider becoming Catholic, but then I actually looked into what is taught, in light of the word of God. I have attended Mass many times personally, and I have read a lot of the Catechism. I am not ignorant as you suppose.
