Hi All,

Recently my energy level has been really low lately, and I feel extremely tired. I have been getting enough sleep but it just seems some days I cannot move. I am a big guy (runs in the family) but I do eat healthy foods and exercise mostly walking. There have been no changes in my lifestyle that I feel could cause this besides I have cut out all caffeine in the last 3 months. I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions on what I could do to improve my energy level all I want to do is lie down and sleep.

Often low energy level is a mental condition, while weakness is a physical condition. Check that option out, because the people I knew who suffered from low energy were depressed (I knew of two such cases, one of them someone in my family), and when I suffered from low energy, to be honest, it was a mixture of summer heat, low blood pressure and being board with life.
But of course, I'm telling you what I've heared from being around people trying to help someone who was convinced that the source of the problem was medical and not mental. These people turned out to be right in this case. All this to say that I have I have a one sided view, and am very suspisious of those who claim it's not true. But just to be sure, follow the advice of those above, and ask your doctor if this theory I've heard is correct.

If you are overweight, that could easily contribute to lack of energy. Excess poundage puts a strain on many body organs, and they cannot tolerate this unwanted baggage forever. It usually catches up to most people at some stage in life, and may oneday show up as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, or other.

Hi, Heaven_Bound!

Seeing a doctor or two isn't a bad idea. Are there some other clues here? Like why you cut out the caffeine three months ago? Just wondering. I was compelled to respond, offer encouragement and prayer... and to remind you it appears you have a beautiful little angel that cares about you doing something here and not ignoring it. :) Peace and health to you, brother! Let us know what you find out, OK?

Remember that to a hammer, everything looks like a nail... Choose your doctors wisely, and write your symptoms and questions down before the appointments. Then write their response down! Helps to keep them accountable if you're taking notes in addition to their dictation. ;)

Thanks again eveyone. I do have an appointment for tomorrow for the Dr. so pray for me that everything goes well. I work overnights at a software co. and I found myself drinking anywhere from 4-5 8 oz glasses of coffee so lets say that was not good and I noticed that whenever I drank the coffee I would get heartburn so I will also bring this up in the appointment for tommorow. I have been drinking lots of water because I also felt that I may be a little dehydrated. I had also talked to my mother about this and she did say that diabetes ran on my Dad's side. I appreciate everyones response and will tell the Dr. my symptoms and find a good nutritionist or dietician to help with my weight.

Hey all,

I just got back from the Dr. and everything so far appears to be ok, I have a good oxygen level and good heart rate and all that other stuff. I will know the blood results in a couple of days. I will have to admit though I really like my Dr. but it kinda struck me odd that she wanted to prescribe some medication. Now, I realize I do not have the credentials as a Dr. does and she was probably going off of my symptoms, but to me that is not a fix if they have not diagnosed the problem. I did not say this as one of my symptoms in my original post, but when I sleep I am a snorer (I go to sleep with a clear concious) so they advised I see a I don't remember the specialist name but she said I could have something called sleep apnia? Where you actually stop breathing in your sleep. I don't know but that kinda scared me about the stop breathing part. Anyways, I will keep everyone up to date and wanted to say Thank You again for your concerns and prayers.

Hi! I'm happy you're keeping in touch with us. Remember, I said a doctor or two! My condition was rare/exceptional, but it took 7 docs and a lot of persistence and organization on my part before I was finally referred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. They were AWESOME, by the way. So anyway, trust your intuition, and see another doc if you think that's best. Again, peace and health to you, brother! :)

Sleep apnea can be a condition that interferes with your ability to breath during the night. It is not critical, in that you will not just suddenly stop breathing forever, so there is no need to worry on that account. It can, however, interfere with your ability to rest properly in the evening.
