  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I really don't see how atheists could have any objection to this.

As a Christian I object to it as I do not feel it was truly offered in the spirit of love. If it were, the last two words "any how" would not be there, they appear to be saying "God love you even though He shouldn't" IMO.

He knew you and I before we were born. He knew you while you were in your own mothers womb.
Be that as it may - it doesn´t do anything for the statement in the OP, which was not about what god did before I even existed, but about what I did before I even existed.

Did Jesus demonstration in his life show the greatest LOVE!
I can pretty much agree with you here. Jesus spent his life combatting corrupt religious and political systems that were oppressive to common people, and he was willing to give his life, rather than compromise these values.

Jesus did not die for us while we were his friends, but while we were his enemies, opposing him by our sinfulness.Yet, in spite of all of this,GOD demonstrated his love for us by dying on the cross. Jesus did not die for humanity as a whole, but that he died for us individuals. Then realize that, for practical purposes, it was not nails that held him to the cross, but LOVE
I think this is largely mythology developed by people trying to explain and appreciate the life of an extraordinary man after his death.
