  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I know what you mean :(

do you have a Catholic bookstore around you? They always have the Catechism but general Christian bookstores sometimes have only Protestant books.

Same over here too. Christian bookstores only carry Protestant materials. To get Catholic literature, I have to get them from the nuns. Or directly from the church.

:) that is true about Mary  she has helped me many times when the enemy was attacking me with doubts about God, etc.

God bless:hug::hug::hug:

Hello

First of, xTx, I'm so glad that you're safe. I saw online that a group of "Christians" wanted to do their own bookburning session :doh:Not only they were very radical, but they also were very foul mouthed!

Regarding the Christian bookshop, unfortunatele, they are not catholic :( I'm sure I could find one in London, but it is far too far away for me. In my home country, they have this chain of Catholic bookstores, it is fantastic! I bought my first bible there! ^_^ Anyhoo, I think I'll order my CCC via the shop, like that I won't have to worry about shipping costs and waiting for the mailman :)

Mass tomorrow, can't wait ^_^

I wanted to ask you a question... How do you imagine Jesus? Not physically, but his personality? In many films I've seen about him, he is so stern and grave. But for some reason I have always imagined him as a smiling, joyful, very charismatic man.

I don't imagine Jesus as stern and grave, I mean I'm sure that is part of Him too, but i've always imagined Him as very compassionate and joyful :)

I like this movie portrayal of Him.. it's not perfect but I like it more than some other movies

the only movie I like that shows Jesus differently is 'the Passion', which I think captures Him very well too

YouTube - Gospel Of John - The Movie Part 6

Hi Monica :wave:thank you for sharing these beautiful movies about Jesus.

Hi xElliex

Today, I am so happy I made it to mass and back safely. Mass was beautiful. When the priest prayed the Kyrie Eleison, I felt peace flowing into my troubled and frightened heart :)

How do I imagine Jesus? I think Jesus is a very, very, very patient God. He took so much trouble to come into this world, to be with people, to teach them the way to life. Eternal life. God went out of His way to connect with us. Jesus is the kindest, most gentle and most loving person in the universe.

I am so thankful to Mary for showing me her son. In all the world, I will not be able to find Jesus's substitute.

During communion they played this song, enjoy ;)

YouTube - As The Deer

The words of the song expresses what my soul feels about Jesus.

God Bless, love you both, xTx

I can relate to the situation of the creator of this thread. I am a cradle Catholic also, and never really thought much about faith when I was younger. Now I'm 22, and I feel a pull back to the Church, but I often feel like I'm a hypocryte If I were to start going back, as intermitantly over the last 2 years i've attended mass for periods of time, and always fall out of it because of certain views of mine that are contrary to the church. I am unsure as to whether I should attend mass in a Catholic church (which feels like home) or go find another church to go to. The issues I strongly disagree with are the churches stance on contraception, and it's complete pro-life stance (I'm not completely pro-choice either, i'm a case by case guy), also I'm not a big believer in the infallability of the Pope, although I know rarely does a Pope make a pronouncement from the chair of St Peter. Anyway, should I start attending mass again, even though I disagree with some of the churches views (I love the theology of the church), should I try talking to my parish priest? I'm so confused right now...

Catholicism is a journey as much as it is a destination. The questions that you need to answer are ones that only you can answer. The answer to these questions will give you the insight required to determine what course of action will be true to yourself.
  • Do you believe Jesus founded the Catholic Church?
  • When you say "I love the theology of the Church," what does that mean? Are you just interested it from an intellectual standpoint? Do agree with its methodology? Or...?

Well, the Catholic church is the oldest established church, and I do believe that St Peter was the first Pope, and the church traces its lineage from St Peter through the Popes, so mostly yes. And when it comes to theology, I mean I love the doctrines regarding Mary, the angels and saints, I like the doctrine of purgatory, and generally I view the Catholic church as one of the most rational churches in regards to theology, and it is open to new ideas from science and so on. I just feel like a bit of a hypocryte going to a Catholic church in regards to its sexual ethics: as I don't disagree with contraception in anyway shape or form, and I disagree one some other issues. But I know that many Catholics share my views on contraception, and it seems to me quite an odd issue to consider not going to the church, but the church seems to make a large issue of it, hence making me feel like a hypocryte for attending a Catholic church, albeit its where I feel the strongest pull...

Ok, but that doesn't answer "Did Jesus found the Catholic Church?" That is the main question. The theology question was just a corollary.

You quite possibly feel the strongest pull because it is what you are familiar with, or perhaps it is where God is leading (dragging?) you towards. Which answer is true is only discernible by you.
