There were two new episodes this time - the one with Locke's backstory about his dad, and then the one where Claire had her baby and Boone died.

I think the reason they are doing it this way is because, being the first season of the show, they probably weren't prepared for how popular it was going to be and how well it was going to do in the ratings. I have heard stories about how expensive it is for them to shoot in Hawaii, so they probably did not have the option to order more episodes for this season due to budgetary constraints - for a while they were even talking about not being able to shoot on location anymore. So they are stuck with the episode count they started with, and it's a hugely popular show now, and they have to make it last into May sweeps for those big ratings numbers.

They did expand the season finale from one hour, to 90 minutes, to - now - two hours. With a show like this, and allllll the many clues that are dropped from episode to episode, I actually welcome the opportunity to watch some of the older eps in reruns. It's a great opportunity to pick up on little things I missed the first time around, like the numbers showing up in various places, or little things people mention in passing that might end up being important down the road.

Different strokes I guess ;)

The first time I heard it, I thought he said, "There were no survivors of flight 815" but it didn't sound quite right. I turned up the volume and played it again, and my husband and I both heard "We're the survivors of flight 815!" We played it back several times after that, and I'm positive that's what they said.

I thought it was "were no survivors" also, but if you're right and it's "we're the survivors..." could it be possible that the signal was being bounced back and Boone was hearing himself?

You mean, kinda like a parallel reverse dimension? Where Jack is a bad guy, and Sawyer is a good guy?

All the good people would have to be given goatees... kinda like that episode of Hercules.

That's a good thought, but Boone said "Oceanic Flight 815" and the response came back just "Flight 815" - no Oceanic. It was definitely a response from someone who heard the call.

Hinky???

It occured to me that it may have been someone back in camp. Obviously noy Sayid, but perhaps another minor character who was monitoring the radio.

Hinky=weird or strange, I first heard this on "the fugitive"(US marshals 1)

Is it a cop word or just a location slang?

The quotes are different then others.?
Don't know.

So I didn't pay too much attention last night, didn't pick up any number clues or foreshadowing. But I did notice a lot of parallels between Locke and Michael/Walt. Locke and Michael both abandoned by their families, both shown in wheel chairs. Both Locke and Walt had their fathers lie to them, had a parent with a serious illness, are somehow "special."

This week's episode is going to be a recap of the season so far. I'm really looking forward to it, because I think it should help clarify all the main unresolved issues, which is perfect timing right before the new May sweeps episodes kick in. It'll be nice to have a one-episode refresher - a lot better than repeats - so everything is fresh in our minds when the new eps start next week. Looking forward to it!

It's not a great one, but it raises some interesting questions. From http://www.tvguide.com/news/askausiello/

Question: Do you know anything about the Lost finale? — Lauren

Ausiello: MAJOR SPOILER ALERT! The raft sets sail with a smattering of castaways on it and you're not going to believe what they encounter out at sea. (My guess? Other castaways.) Meanwhile, those who are left behind attempt to break open the hatch and a "visitor" shows up at the camp and threatens Claire's baby. Methinks it's that scary French chick.

The parentheticals in there are his, not mine. Can't wait! :D

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I came across a site some of you may enjoy. It's a message forum for Lost that is by the creative team behind Lost. It's pretty interesting. There's even a spoiler section. ;)

Well that was rather disappointing. The only thing new I picked up on is that they focused heavily on Jack, Kate, and Charlie.

For merely an hour (or more actually 44 minutes) they did a pretty good job of summarizing the season so far for anyone who hadn't watched, but might want to hop on the bandwagon for the May sweeps final episodes.

Unfortunately, this is such a magnificently dense and self-referential show, that anyone coming on board now will have missed the deft crafting and nuance that has created so many jaw dropping moments for me as a viewer from the first episode. Anyone watching last nights synopsis might have missed black rock references (like when Jack found the bodies in the cave) and not fully appreciated Charlies herion addiction, and what the discovery of a whole shipment of smack might mean in light of that.

It slips my mind now (and I didn't tape it), but there was one "Aha!" moment where Sawyer did or said something and I winked at the TV in catching the foreshadowing I missed earlier. I'm also glad they showed Locke tossing the flashlight to Boone, and him dropping it, since I didn't remember how they discovered the hatch.

I'm excited about the last episodes of the season, and as far as the endless repeats go, we need to accept the facts. It's a 36 week season, and there are 22-24 original episodes. With a plot dense show like Lost, I'm not surprised they chose to air reruns rather than replacements like Wife Swap or Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, but my hope is that next season, they'll let the buzz and water cooler talk carry the show and just air a few reruns, and use a filler series to pad out the calendar.

(Just one quick aside, can any of you imitate the Monster's warbling noise that it makes? I think I've got it a close as a human mouth can approximate it.)
