On the one side, rioters throwing rocks and burning down buildings. On the other side, armed police and the National Guard.
Why wouldn't you want to get right in the middle of all that?
weird watching a big news event.. and feeling like I'm missing out.. lol.
And when the news shows you massive forest fires, tsunamis, hurricanes, and breached dams?
I'm really hoping you don't feel the urge to investigate those up close.
If I'm within short driving distance.. yeah IDK.. I'm tempted to see it in person.
Once again, I would counsel you strongly against any such course of action.
After a riot in the San Diego ghetto after the Rodney King beating some of the destroyed stores did not reopen and for over 20 years they had a very hard time enticing big chain stores to open in that area. Eventually, after offering large tax breaks and good deals on property a few opened.
Helps no one when burning down your own town.

You ending up in jail after trying to knock that cop off seems to be the best case scenario. More likely you'd either be getting a knee to the neck until you choke or just a dozen bullets.Absolutely... without a doubt... they murdered this man. I know where the footage of him on the ground is but I cannot link it here. There is absolutely nothing any human being could have done before being in custody to deserve what I saw.
This needs to be a capital offense.
Man no doubt... I might have ended up in jail. It is that bad. Every fiber of my being wants to knock that cop off of him.

As a business owner, the looting and destruction is horrible. The businesses aren’t responsible for what occurred.
But as a fellow citizen, I’m aware this escalated to a point you’d never see in well-heeled communities. Our city routinely shuts off shopping districts for sporting event finals. They protect the businesses.
When Operation Wall Street tried to shut down a highway they were thwarted and redirected elsewhere. Similar protests have been heavily monitored with a visible police presence to stave off destruction.
I don’t have the data, but I would be curious to see how these areas fare a few years down the road. Do businesses rebuild or go elsewhere? I suspect the answer is a bit of both.

No one but that one police officer is responsible. The rioters are just taking the opportunity to cause damage. Mob justice is no justice.
In case you forgot sir a life WAS lost. You are more concerned about protesters committing "attempted murder" while a cop sits comfortably in his home after ACTUALLY murdering a man.
These are all minor losses compared to a life.
A broken window and graffiti is something that can happen ANY TIME. I'm sure they understand, given the circumstances. I would.
Says the man pointing fingers at the WRONG CROWD.
Just remember though.....if major businesses there shut down shop and move out of the region don't be quick to call that outrageous.Material things can be replaced but lives cannot. Furthermore people have set things on fire over sports so is this really all that outrageous?
Noooo not corporate assets! Whatever will they do!
Martin Luther King called a riot "the language of the unheard".I have a couple questions?
Where are the principles of scripture and Jesus' teaching in any of this discussion and the rioting?
Is this a Christian forum? I struggle to see any fruit of the spirit in it.
I fully understand there is a record of unjust acts against people of color in this country, but I really struggle to see how rioting solves any of it. I think society as a whole is simply going to feel stronger that the stereotypes fit. What part of the Holy book endorses destruction of innocent people's homes, businesses, cars and cause them to flee their homes. It's simply anarchy and a tool of the devil to destroy our moral base. When you look at the people who actually made a difference in civil rights, it was not rioters, but people who used some common sense in their approach. They worked to bring the problem to light, then worked to change the system by becoming community leaders, consulting government officials, people like Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and many more. Would Martin Luther King advocate such activities as burning down and looting a Target Store, I doubt it. Peaceful and even loud protest are indeed a tool, even some civil disobedience, but criminal activity is not protesting it is simply criminal activity and the authorities should do whatever is needed to stop it.
To the black community, I hear you and I agree there is a problem. The video does in fact speak for it's self and I agree criminal charges are in order. When cops have to pay the same price as those they are arresting, they will take notice and change. No cop wants to be in prison for this, he will lead a very hard life there. However, I do not see how the violence helps the cause in any way or is appropriate forms of protest. Jesus was actually a protestor and I doubt he condones this kind of behavior. In fact scripture tells us that anger, hate, violence and crime is not of God. Watching the news, I made two observations I found significant, almost all the protestors were young people and most likely too young to own homes, have businesses, families and long careers. Number 2, I saw as many whites as blacks, so I can't blame the black community, as some are doing. I classify them all together as criminals. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them actually don't give a D#m about Mr. Floyd. They just saw an excuse to be criminals and get away with it. I believe that a core group did care and wanted to peacefully make their point, but the criminals changed that. The good news is most Americans see past the idiots on both sides and understand.
