Hi everyone,

My wife and I moved from our home of 28 years to Westville, New Jersey. We've been looking for a new church to go to. So far we've tried the Methodist one around here and they just aren't what we're looking for. We need a church that's upbeat. Good music is a plus and friendly people. Our last minister was really good and his sermons always left us wanting more. Any ideas would be a great help.

Richard

P.S.

We want to be active with the church..:)

It's hard to find a new church, because you sometimes have to go to so many before you find the one that suits you.

I move around fairly frequently, so I have had to find a new church frequently, and I have found that the only way I can do it is to pray that God will help me find a good, Bible-believing, God-fearing church with a rich church life and good people. Whenever I've prayed that way, I have never failed to "drop in" at some church and found a new home.

About 4 years ago, my friend and I went hiking, and decided to leave early and stop for church wherever we were when it was time for church. We did, and we stopped at a little country church way outside of town. We liked it a lot, so the next time we went hiking, we stopped there again, and next thing you know, we were attending regularly.

God wants to see us in a church family, and He is more than willing to show you a good church, if you just ask.

I'd just be careful. Modern day churches (not all, just the majority) seem to have dropped the ball. Seeking new ways to worship, however only in truth and in spirit can you truly worship (John 4:24). Most churches today just have emotionalism and not much of the Spirit of God, but I digress {steps off soapbox}

Be in much prayer over this, for sure ;)

That is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard Dikaioo..modern churches havent dropped the ball some but i mean have you been to them all? But to answer the original question you should try a Church of God , I go to one and love it. We worship God with all of our hearts, have alot of modern music but also have some hymns, we are developing a Synchronized movement team (dance but God forbid we call it that), and the people are so nice. we love the Lord and would be overjoyed for you to come and worship with us! God Bless, Celine

Since you're young, I'll be nice :D Compare the revivals of Jonathan Edward's day, George Whitefield's day, etc. and them come back and look at mainstream Christianity--it's in trouble. Of course, the true "Church" (those who are saved) are never going under, as how can the church go under when its Head (Jesus Christ) is in heaven. :cool:

Music should never be the main emphasis in church, by the way, it's not the scriptural format.

Not to bring up any debate, but if you want good music with down to earth people, your best bet to me would be to find a "black church". Cain't nobody praise the lord like black foke. I belong to a black church, and have gone to others but I like the way we praise the lord. We have singing, worshiping:bow: , shouting:clap: ...the works!

Hopes this helps,
GOD BLESS!

Have you asked your previous church for suggestions? usually they have a list of like-minded churches. I've always gone that route and have found the right church right away.
Hi TwinCrier. I think this is an excellent suggestion! :thumbsup: Also, there is a website that you can visit to find a listing of all local churches in a certain city. The churches are listed by denomination. I can't guarantee that all the churches in a specific town are listed but I tried it out for my town and didn't notice any missing churches by looking at it at a glance. Check it out here:
