  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How do your moral beliefs trump other people's Civil Rights?

Meh... if a Christian doesn't know the sermon on the mount I wonder what their morals are based on, after all these are the primary moral teachings of Christ.

I find it really hard to post in this thread. So far, because of what religion I am, I've been accused of being in a cult (because some like to paint with a broad brush). I've been lumped together with bigots because I choose to believe the love and peace preached in the four Gospels. Thanks a lot.

On the other side, there's a suble hint that people like are me are lukewarm Christians because we don't pick and choose the OT laws we follow. We don't say, "hey, it's okay to eat shrimp, but bad for gay people to be commited relationships". Instead, we accept both shrimp eaters AND gay people.

For some strange reason, the nations that allow civil unions have not fallen into disarray. The divorce rate has not skyrocketed from it. The crime rate has not skyrocketed from it. The rate of natural disasters hasn't skyrocketed. In fact, they're pretty peaceful countries. Even their economies are doing fairly okay in these rough times! Maybe because they were more focused on making sure their nieighbors were okay than peeping in to their neighbor's bedrooms to see what they were doing.

I just had a shrimp burrito earlier today filled with jumbo prawns so would that make it a jumbo sin? It is really hilarious when you think about the term "jumbo shrimp".
