Refiner Of Silver

Some time ago, a few ladies met to read the Scriptures. While reading the third chapter of Malachi they came upon a remarkable expression in the third verse. 'And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.'

One lady's opinion was that it was intended to convey the view of the sanctifying influence of the grace of Christ. Then she proposed to visit a silversmith and report to her friends what he said on the subject.

She went accordingly and without telling the objective of her errand, begged to know the process of refining silver, which he fully described to her.

'But sir', she said, 'do you sit while the work of refining is going on?' 'Oh, yes, madam,' replied the silversmith, 'I must sit with my eye steadily fixed on the furnace, for if the time necessary for refining is exceeded in the slightest degree, the silver will be injured.'

The lady, at once, saw the beauty and comfort, too, of the expression, 'He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.' If Christ sees it needful to put His children into a furnace; His eye is steadily on the work of purifying, and His wisdom and love are both engaged in the best manner for them. Their trials do not come at random, 'the very hairs of our head are all numbered.'

As the lady was leaving the shop, the silversmith called her back, and said he had still further to mention, that he only knows when the process of purifying is complete, by seeing his own image reflected in the silver.

Beautiful example! When Christ shall see His own image in His people, His work of purifying will be accomplished."

~author unknown~

Malachi 3:2-3 But who may abide the day of His coming? and who shall stand when He appeareth? for He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Romans 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

1 Peter 1:6-7 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Isaiah 43:19 "See that I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up. Do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."

Psalm 42:11 "Why are you so cast down, O my soul, Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God."

I had a dream the other night, which bugged me at the time, and it still kind of bugs me. I guess by way of introduction, I should say that I am a writer, and that I have been wondering to myself, and to God how I can use my gift of language for God's purposes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~***********~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was talking to my friend, and I showed him something I had written, something I am a little paranoid about, I don't remember which friend it was, I can remember how he looked, but it didn't really match up with anybody that I know. We were walking around in what looked like a park, and all of a sudden he started digging a hole in the ground, and he pulled out a sheaf of paper, which was (curiously) fastened in the middle with an old fashioned paper fastener. What I had given to him was a novel/book. (it wasn't clear) He handed the sheaf of paper to me, and said "Here is what you have written" I opened it, and looked inside but there were no words on the page.
I protested, and said "But, where is my story?" and he said nothing. I felt like this was a semi-lucid dream, because I felt almost... crushed emotionally. It didn't matter how many times I demanded to know why he had given me this wad of nothing instead of my story, he didn't give an answer.
The next thing I remember, I was awake.
Thanks,
Dave
Shalom Dave!
Surmising your dream is God exhorting you to be patient. The page with no words could symbolize that your 'story' has yet to be written. The sheaf of paper and old fashioned fastener could refer to the Bible and that your writing is fastened, attached to what God will show you through His Word! :D So since you want to write for God's glory, park yourself in His Word and He will give you muchhhhhhhhhhhhh to write about! ;)
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Ok, so here's the background.... I've recently talked with my mother about an experience I had with my spiritual life and she became really excited and nows wants to come visit me and co to my church and recieve prayer from one of my pastors! (She's not saved) So I've been praying for her salvation and I got this vision...most I can understand by there is one part I didn't get. Here it is:
I picture an animal with the body of a lion but had wings and three eagle heads. I take a sword and cut open the animal's stomach and take my mother out.
Now I think I can take the lion to be the enemy, and the sword to be the word of God but where else can I go with this? And what can I feel affirmed of? thanks!
Surmising that the three eagle heads would represent the Trinity of God, Sovereign over all principality and power! Wings would symbolize liberty! Take your dream as Divine affirmation that your Mom will indeed come to Christ! :clap:
This dream seems to say that possibly you and your Mom are afraid of God because of past misdeeds:confused:...this fear could be crippling your faith, hindering you both from receiving Divine healing. Jesus be exhorting you both to trust in Him for forgiveness and receive your healing! :D
Luke 5:18-25 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before Him. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And when He saw their faith, He said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (He said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
1 John 4:15-18 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like Him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Greetings Humblebee!
I had a dream probibly like 4 or 5 years ago, but i still remember it very vividly. It started out as I was running towards the woods with many other christians by my side and we were running frantically trying to get away from what i think were soldiers. We were trying to hide in the woods, but i felt a sharp pain and looked down to see I had a bullet go through my arm. I fell down in pain and some fellow christians surrounded me, but i insisted that they leave me behind and go on. They did and a few seconds later i looked up to see a man with a gun pointed at me and I know it was the end. But suddenly, there was a trumpet sound and they sky turned pink and orange, and I saw Jesus coming down on a cloud. I wasnt sure if i had died or if i was still alive. I started rising up in the air to meet Him. Then Jesus sent me up to be in some sort of i will describe it as huge banquet. There was a very very long table filled with all my favorite foods and desserts. What i thought was an angel told me, this is your waiting place for a short while. so eat and enjoy. And there was this very large window that I looked out. And i just wondered what i was doing there. Now i had thought that the dream had something to do with the rapture, but what was with the huge banquet?? I dont know. But i had always wondered about that dream and it's the only dream I have ever remembered. I would be very grateful if you could help me out:)
Humblebee,
This dream is one I had last night.
A man was holding me hostage. :o Other people were there also, but they were with this man.
This man made me put on something that looked like a blanket. It has lots of looong straight pins on it. The pins are in perfect rows all up and down this blanket. This man took 2 of the pins out of the blanket and wrapped it around me like a bath towel. He used the 2 pins to pin the blanket to my body through my left breast. :help: I couldn't move. If I did I risked being pricked by these pins.
This man kept messing with me. All of a sudden he either sees or hears someone coming. The man and all of the other people with him ran and jumped on some kind of all-terrain vehicles and took off.
All of a sudden another man and alot of people show up. This man removes the 2 pins and takes the blanket off of me. He puts me on his all-terrain vehicle and rescues me. :clap:
End of dream.
When I was saying my prayers last night before bed, I asked God :pray: to show me what was going to happen. I asked this because of the terrorist threats.
God bless you,
Faith4us
Zowie Bbf777!
Your dream be God loving on you! :hug: Jesus recognizes the tough times you been through. You may have felt left in the dust by others and that would be emotionally painful (symbolized by the bullet wound), yet you are the apple of God's eye!
The bullet in the arm also made me think of that phrase 'a shot in the arm', meaning giving someone encouragement, doing something that boosts their spirit, exactly what God doing through your dream! :D
Believing Jesus gave you a glimpse through a window into the future, a foretaste of what the Marriage Supper of the Lamb will be like! :holy: Him saying 'this is your waiting place for a short while...' would symbolize being on earth and while waiting for Jesus' Second Coming, He wants you to enjoy life! ;)
Here are some applicable Bible verses:
John 10:10 Jesus said...I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 14:1-2, 6 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you...Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise-- "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Revelation 19:9 Then he said to me, "Write: "Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!"' And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."
Sweet Shalom Faith4us!
Your dream seems to exhort that Jesus about to do something wonderful with your Mom! Cemetery tends to symbolize unresolved griefs. Having said that, as I recall, you have a Mom who is extremely tough to get along with! :( Meaning this could be saying that your Mom's contentiousness (old nature) is about to be laid to rest, opening the door of her heart to reconciliation! :D
Surmising this dream also has to do with your Mom. The man could symbolize the devil who incites your Mom into mistreating you so unjustly. Am certain that being around her harshness has kept you constantly on 'pins and needles', even to the point that you been pierced emotionally (blanket pinned through left breast) by her utter contempt and verbal cruelty. The man that came to rescue you must be JESUS JESUS JESUS and even more so as He seemingly is about to work wonders in your Mom!!!!!!!
"Your Lover's Gaze"
by Victoria Boyson
Web:
www.boyson.org
One morning I had a dream, and in this dream I was engaged to a man who spent all of his time with other people and not me. I felt very rejected and continually tried to win his attention, but to no avail. Then another man came to me who adored me and made me feel deeply loved. He took my cheeks in his hands and turned my face towards himself. He said, "Why do you want to be with someone who cannot truly love you? Come be with me."
Through this dream I realized that the acceptance we seek from people will leave us feeling empty and rejected. But we have a Lover who adores us! He wants to embrace us and shower us with affection. He wants to spend every moment of every day with us. It is with Him, in His presence, that we will be made complete. He is the love of our life.
We'll Never Fully Receive Man's Acceptance
Jesus is pleading with us to stop seeking man's acceptance, which we will never be able to fully receive, and to focus our attention on Him, for He is the only one who can fulfill us. When we take our eyes off Him and focus on man, we will be left feeling empty and alone, rejected and hated.
What do people have that we want anyway? Our Lover has everything we need and more. Come with me and relish in your Lover's arms. Enjoy the comfort of His grace. "Taste and see that the Lord is good" (Psalms 34:8).
"Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth - for your love is more delightful than wine." Song of Songs 1:2
Just Experience Me
Years ago, during a time of prayer, I was overcome by the Lord's presence. His presence so filled me again and again that I did not know what to do. I cried out to Him, "What do you want me to do Lord?" He said in return, "Just experience me!"
When I am with Jesus I feel totally complete, lacking nothing. I am stronger than a stallion and more beautiful than the fairest maiden. "I found the one my heart loves" (Song of Songs 3:4) and in the richness of His presence I am made whole. Nothing man can do for me can compare with this. So why do we care if this world loves us or hates us; we have all that we need in the arms of the One who loves us.
"I held him and would not let him go" (Song of Songs 3:4). He is irresistible, and when He turns my face to meet His gaze, I stand immobilized by the depth of His love for me. Once in His presence I can never get enough of Him; I do not want to leave Him. I do not want to sleep or wake, I only want to stay in His magnetizing gaze.
"Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does in the field; Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires" (Song of Songs 3:5). "Do not arouse or awaken" me while I sit at His feet. Now that He has me, I will not be awakened or aroused from His immobilizing embrace. And I finally release the longings of my heart and surrender myself completely to His heart. I am truly adored. He wants all of me, and I surrender everything to Him and He gives me perfect peace.
"My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely." Song of Songs 2:14
He finds you attractive, and in His presence you are the most beautiful person on earth. When you are in His arms, there is no one else on the earth. Indeed, there is no earth when you are one with Him. Your feet do not touch the ground, because there is no ground. There is only He who loves you like no other.
What do you have world, that can compare to His glory? What can you offer me, that compares to His love? If it were formulas and strategies I desired, you could help me. But I want nothing except more of Him. If you cannot give me that, then you have nothing to offer me. Show me where my Lover is, He is what I want! "Have you seen the one my heart loves?" Song of Songs 3:3
Are you hungry? Is your mouth watering? Come with me to the well of grace…
The Samaritan Woman
A woman met Jesus at a well. She was thirsty, and Her thirst drew her to the local water supply. It was at this well where she met Jesus and now she would never thirst again. "Then leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 'Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?' They came out of the town and made their way toward Him" John 4:29-30.
The eyes of the villagers were opened when they saw this forlorn woman who, being rejected by many, was transformed by Jesus' grace. She was no longer afraid of the people; she did not seek their acceptance because she didn't need it anymore. She had been accepted by the Giver of Life, so what could their acceptance gain her after she had received the living water the Lord had provided for her? She did not fear their rejection any longer. Rejection could not touch her, because she had received what they could never give her.
She had been transformed by Jesus. "Come see a man," she told them. Jesus told her everything she had ever done, and then He covered her in a blanket of His grace. A life full of deadness was raised to life again. No more forlorn, but now loved. Once rejected by them, now she led the town's people to find what she had found: Life!
They saw the change in her. They heard her words and something deep inside of them was awakened by the desperate hope of acceptance. Could they know Him like she knew Him, they wondered? Would He accept them, as they were, an abandoned, rejected society of Samaritans? Could He be the one who their hearts had longed for? Could He fill their emptiness?
Turn Your Gaze
Can He fill the emptiness in your heart? Yes, He longs to! Let Him turn your gaze away from a world that will only cause you pain. Surrender your heart to Him, He longs to adore you. You've been rejected by so many, and you feel unattractive and unloved. But He wants you to see yourself through the mirror of His grace. "You are truly beautiful," says the Lord. And suddenly you are radiant, filled with His love.
Look at the words of this wonderful song, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace." The Lover of our souls wants to take you in His arms and gently turn you towards Him. "Look on Me" He says, "you are Mine and I love you. I am the Giver of grace, do not seek acceptance from any other source." If we seek Him first others will receive us, because He will wrap us in His grace.
Do not let anyone arouse you from His arms of grace. Let His gaze bring healing and wholeness to the deepest regions of your heart. He is the one your soul longs for. He is yours and you are His. He is all you need. You were made for Him!
"Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me." Song of Songs 2:13
Adding only these verses...
Ephesians 3:14-21 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
This is not my dream but one I interpreted...
>>>I had a dream one night that I saw a man, he had on a white shirt and black slacks. A lean and strong man with a mustache, and his hand was always on his sword ready to kill. And I saw another fellow, and he was old and bold, wearing a grey suit. And the old man was always trying to sneak up on the lean man with the sword, but the lean man was quick and always on the guard. And every time the old man would move or begin to say anything, the lean man with sword would draw his sword and slam it back down in the sheath.<<<
The man with the white shirt and black pants could well represent the spirit man, while the old, bold fellow could be the carnal man who constantly tries to resurrect itself, persists in regaining heart throne control, in getting the upperhand over moment to moment decision making. The old man erroneously and arrogantly thinks that immediate self-gratification is best, so schemes to cloud (symbolized by the grey suit) one's mind with rationalizing away sin and it consequences. Yet the spirit man is wise to everlasting rewards and alert enough to know that the wages of sin is death, so will not even entertain temptations and silences the old man with the Word of God! The spirit man being lean and strong, could be a symbol of spiritual discipline (consistency in Word and prayer), of agility, not at all weighed down by fleshly, temporal appetites. A mustache could symbolize spiritual maturity and keen discernment!
Genesis 4:6-7 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."
Romans 6:6-7, 11-14, 22-23 For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be done away with that we should no longer be slaves to sin-- because anyone who has died has been freed from sin...In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace...But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 7:21-25 So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
Romans 8:12-13 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
1 Corinthians 9:24-25 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
Galatians 5:16-18 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
Galatians 6:7-8 ...A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
Colossians 3:1-5 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature.
Colossians 4:2-6 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
My husband's post:
Meditating in church on the word, when I closed my eyes, what seemed like just maybe a couple seconds, while my eyes were closed I saw what looked like to me an angel that said "come w/ me" we rose up above the earth into the atmosphere and then the angel shot off in a bright blue blaze of light and asked me to follow saying something to the effect of "Come w/ me, " or "follow me" not knowing how I shot off also in the blue blaze like the angel. We stopped and the Earth was in the distance. The angel said, "Fear not, one day you shall be like us too." With great joy I opened my eyes, and in what seemed to be seconds was actually a little over an half hour. That is the best I can remember as it was almost a year ago. Please tell me what you think.
