I thought you might need a reminder of how badly liberals dump on others as much as they receive. Of course, personal bias leads people to try to minimalize their own fault while magnifying their 'enemies'. Its to be expected, but its amusing to watch in action sometimes.

What is particularily difficult for anyone who is not from the USA is atching this name calling going on as if it really means anything! It is another tool to keep the people fighting amongst each other. Red state/blue state is another example. From observing on the "outside", there is little difference between the 2 parties and all discussion ends with, "Well, so was Clinton"! It is that "You are with us or against us" mentality. Black/white. It is meaningless and only serves to keep people from discussing the real issues. I have yet to see, read or hear from a true "Left wing" politician from the USA that is in govt. Pelosi is not to the left, if you take into account all world politics.

I agree. I believe that American politics is doomed to this polerised political system because on a cultral level they cannot comprehend a third stance to issues. The US system right now is the manifestation of American culture and mythology.

I live in Tennessee. We had Harold Ford Jr. as our Democratic senatorial candidate. He ran from the word "liberal" like it was synonymous with "nazi". Granted, there was nothing liberal about him. He and Corker agreed on virtually every issue. The debates were basically them arguing over who supported the Patriot Act more, who wants to build a higher fence along the Mexico border, who hates the gays more, etc. I was thinking "Can you point me to the guy that disagrees with you guys so that I may vote for him, please."

No it's not. There are many right-wingers out there that use a descriptive term as an epithet. It's gotten to the point now that people run away from the word 'liberal' as though it means that you're a nazi or that you hate God. I'm sick of it and I want it to stop.

I'm tired of the generalizations. I'm tired of the insults. I'm tired of the sanctimony. Not from you, necessarily, but from people that use the political term that describes me as an insult.

Call yourself a liberal, and complain when you're called a liberal. Call yourself gay, and complain when you're called gay. Call yourself and your friends [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth]s, and complain when someone calls you one. It's just pathetic complaining. I am a Christian, and people treat Christian like it is a negative descriptor. I don't complain about being called Christian, and if someone sees it as a negative descriptor I try convincing them that it is not what they think it is, I don't complain.
