and Christ told us to love one another as he loves us (which we can only approximate, but even He did not react violently except for when he threw the moneychangers out of the Temple).

We are to love one another but we are also commanded to do certain things if a brother or sister in Christ is bound up in sin Anabaptist Distinctives: A Quick Course on Shunning

There is a reason why we are commanded to study to show ourselves approved and part of that is so we don't take passages of scripture out of context and independent of other, amplifying scripture. Satan is all for us ignoring the evil that people do, to not 'judge' and not hold fast to the truth.

I've known countless liberal Christians deny the Bible, but very few Conservative ones do that...which suggests otherwise.

The liberals that deny the bible do not misunderstand it. They claim that it is "further revealed to each generation" which is code for "we do what we want to do and ignore the parts we don't like and write in the parts we need to write in." This is a deliberate act of rebellion against the Word to make it conform to the world, not an innocent misunderstanding.

If a self proclaimed Christian says something that is not Biblical and they know it is not, but still believe it is part of God's truth, there is a serious problem.

Once they convince themselves that the bible is like an onion and each generation peels back a new layer, then they can convince themselves that whatever they choose to believe is the truth.

It would not be fair to think that liberals are not serious about their faith or about their belief in the Lord.

If you think liberals have a wrong view of the bible, that is a misunderstanding in your sight. Why not reason with them about it? 'Come let us reason together'.

The Pharisees were serious about their faith, being serious and being a servant of the Lord are not necessarily synonymous.

If you think liberals have a wrong view of the bible, that is a misunderstanding in your sight.

When liberal beliefs contradict scripture, the problem lies in their beliefs and not in any misunderstanding in the sight of others.

Why not reason with them about it? 'Come let us reason together'.

We try but only get the 'that's YOUR interpretation' platitude as 'liberal Christians' endorse what God hates. If one is faithful to God and His word we must oppose abortion (thou shalt not murder), gay marriage (a man shall not lay with a man as with a woman, it is an abomination/marriage as God created is SOLELY between a man and a woman), theft by government proxy (thou shalt not covet, thou shalt not steal, put not your trust in princes nor in the son of man in whom there is no help) and the making of government into an idol that people look to rather than looking to the kingdom of God and His righteousness for the things they need.

God is a being of many facets including agape love, compassion and forgiveness. However we should never forget that He is also a jealous God who will visit what men consider evil onto them when they turn away from him and revel in wickedness. Because He does love some things (like holiness and justice) He of necessity must HATE their opposites. He even goes so far as to say "These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren" (Proverbs 6:16-19).

Unfortunately a great many men will not listen to kind words and gentle persuasion (if that were all that were necessary to sway men to live holy and righteous lives we'd all be saints) nor will they listen to sterner warnings about their evil. For many it takes God unleashing the sword, famine and pestilence and exposing the utter impotence of mankind to control anything for them to remember Him at all (in deed over word).

You mention Paul but omit that when he was a Pharisee he was an enemy of Jesus. A little something did happen that time Saul traveled the Damascus road.

After that happened. then along came abortion, then the 'alternate lifestyle' thing.

Interesting topic. Many of the Pharisees became followers of Jesus:

Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. John 3:1

Also Joseph of Arimathea.

The Bible says that God is many things, love being one of them, but liberals tend to focus on the "love" and believe it excuses all manner of behaviour because to criticise would be un-"loving"...typically avoiding the fact that God is also judge who will one day cast the unrepentant into eternal fire.

The Pharisees were not a religious group, but a political party. Certainly they remained Pharisees after they came to faith, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimethea being the two known examples.
