Well ive never seen this topic posted so i should give it a try, i mean Bob Marley does have a positive message in the music he created. Yes he was rastafarian but besides that i think he was a pretty good guy...he promoted peace and unity...he just ran along with the wrong religion. Post what you people think about him and any quotes you may know from him. His real name is Robert Nesta Marley, he died in 1981 from a cut on his foot that got infected. He has a positive message and always promoted unity...what do you people think....???

I love Bob Marley as well and as a fellow Jamaican....though he was a true rastafarian.... some of his lyrics makes you want to rock....
Songs like "3 little birds, " "no woman no cry", "redemption song" and "one love"...we all can learn a few things from his lyrics.

Bob Marley was a genius .......... there was none who could take such simple tunes and make them loved by all ages and all races , Marley was unique , I have about 7 of his albums and a box set , but the one you must have is LEGEND

In case you didnt know when Bob marley says "I and I" it means god and I, Marley appeared to have a strong faith in God anybody that spends any amount of time getting out the word and speaking about the injustices in this world is worthy of our thanks, listen to his songs, many speak of peace and equality and most of his songs mention praise and thanks to god.....

I thought as christians we are to be openand accepting?, yes we all harbor our own thoughts and beleifs and many differ from each other but if they all harbor the end goal of peace love justice and equality then i think christ would be pleased!

Well as a rastafarian...they have many many different beliefs mostly in a different bible from the Word of God incorporating Psalms and Proverbs...alot believe in no birth control and believes in smoking weed. So ...its kinna hard to explain.

Bob Marley is defenitely the best toward reggae music!!! He surely has positive messages!! Its true he promoted peace so there's nothing wrong in his songs!! He was a great singer too bad hes not here anymore

Bob Marley was one amazing individual. His music will be as timeless as the Beatles. If you are into reggae, you are really into reggae! I love it.
He is a bit antagonistic toward Christiaity, but on the other hand he is not. Obviously anyone who believes that Halle Salassie was the Messiah is obviously wrong from a Christian pespective, but the remainder of the Rastafarian religion finds its basis on OT theology.
I have a ton of live Marley "bootleg'" stuff (though it is legal as most of his concerts were recorded and filtered into the public domain) on CD. Anyone interested....shoot me a PM. One in particular was 10/31/73 set that was broadcast on the radio from the Record Plant in Sausalito, CA.....it is killer!
