Roy Rogers was the "King of the Cowboys" and Dale Evans was the "Queen of the West"? [Saturday movie matinees at the local theater in the early 50's often starred these two.]

It should be fun once again to reminisce and comment about something we remember going way back when. Your turn next...

I remember when video games meant "Pong",
and even PacMan was not invented yet!

I remember when we could buy bubble gum for a penny; and we played jacks and marbles and not computer or video games. Anybody here go back that far?

Yes, we would walk to this little country store. For one dollar each we got a 16oz soda, chips, fruit pie, jerky, and a few candies. This was our daily rations to go out shooting our guns in the woods.

How about shooting marbles, playing red-light green-light, and being forced to come in instead of coaxing to go outside? I think it was more fun for kids then.

There were no computers and we learned to type on a huge, non-electric typewriter.

I remember skiing to Kindergarten, in 5 feet of snow, and
bugging the heck out of teachers, with (my insatiable curiosity... I planned on not being cured of).

Playing outside at night, games such as "hide and go seek".
During the day, riding our bikes, taking walks to the store, or just making up games to play.
No computers then, and you know, I think things were a lot better. I know I enjoyed those days a whole lot.

I remember getting them out, Tony. Well, actually, all I do remember, really, is the jelly and ice cream I was given afterwards.

I remember playing whip and top. We used a little wooded spinning top and draw patterns on the top of it with chalk. We then wound some leather and string around the top (the string was attached to a piece of dowel) as we pulled the string free the top would spin. It didn't matter what the pattern looked like because as the top spinned round and round they all became circles. I loved playing with my whip and top.

That was the good part. I had chipped ice and ice cream too, but not until I got over that dark ages knock out gas, ether! Sick as ten horses!
