CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Actually, it is even more true for Christians. I assume that you don't need for me to find a Bible verse that tells us to hold to the truth or not be swept up in the ways of the world.

I agree Political Correctness has no business in the country. It is there to really be used to tear down christianity and get us to think like them. NOWAY! I will never give up independent thinking and speaking of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It makes me sick to see churches knuckling under government preassure and using so called political correctness. Have you noticed nothing other than love is taught? When I was young not only love was taught but along with that so was sin. Now you do not hear much about sin. I often wonder if todays people truly knows what sin is.
I am not talking about some preacher standing at his pulpit yelling at the top of his lungs hell fire and damnation like they did 50-60 yrs ago. When they changed the method of preaching to much quieter they seem to have also tossed out preaching about sin.
Sometimes truth is not pretty but we need to hear it.

Do you suppose that I'll come up with a lot of verses that advise Christians to say whatever society's rulers want everyone to say, rather than what they believe to be true and honest? That is the issue of the thread, is it not?

I agree with you! I am 20 years old and after studying the new testament, it's obvious what God wants (and doesn't want) from us. My husband feels the same. I just try not to judge people for what they do and to pray for America as a whole. I can only hope we succeed in instilling similar values in our daughter, to carry some faith and common sense into the future!
