  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Lets keep it simple...

Wednesday at sunset is Thursday night then Thursday day, Thursday night at sunset is Friday night then Friday day, Friday night at sunset is Saturday night then Saturday day which is the third day. Jesus rises at sunrise on the third day. This is three days and three nights. If Jesus rose on Sunday morning it would be four nights and four days.
But He rose after full 3 nights and full 3 days ...
So it must touch the 4th.

So, it's after Saturday Day, which is Sunday, which is Sheaf wave offering Holiday called "first shabbadon". And Shabbadon may be called either Sabbath or Week.
We know it is Week because all the Sabbaths passed already.
First of the Week - or First day of the week.
Sheaf offering is AFTER Saturday according to Lev 23:15

MT 27:62 The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. 63 "Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, `After three days I will rise again.'

MT 12:39 He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, sayeth scripture itself, and the Lord rose on Sunday- and he made all things new.

Therefore, the Sabbath is appropriately Sunday. The Church has long since determined this many centuries ago.

There should be no dispute. You have Ellen White, but let's face it, she was one upping white people on their own religion- plenty of motive there. And Messiancs- the lot of them have a hard time even accepting Paul.
There is no strong point in the rejection of the Sunday Sabbath, such is why this very thread demands a technical proof of scripture. One upping, you see.

You, The Church, & Ellen White are all in the same boat. All wrong.
Your "The Church" has claimed supremacy in order to One Up everybody together.

Meh

Why do protestants, who often call my church the Devil, still hold to Sunday then?

It couldn't be because it's just the plain and simple truth, right?

Apparently this is something else Orthodox and Catholics disagree on. For the Orthodox Church the Sabbath is most definitely not Sunday.

Christianity so transformed pagan Greece that the names of the days of the week were changed. Sunday is called the Lord's day, Monday is "second day", Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are "third, fourth and fifth day", Friday is "preparation" and Saturday is "Sabbath"

Even plainer & simpler, because" everybody's doing it".

I don't. You're all pretty much the same to me.

The Church holds Saturday as a day of preparation. It's when you go and confess and edify your faith.

Sunday is the day of the Real Presence. Ultimately, it is also the Christian Sabbath.

In the monasteries, the liturgy is served every day, so every day is the day of the Real Presence.
Can you demonstrate from concilliar or papal declarations that Rome considers Sunday to be the Sabbath, because it most certainly goes against the teaching of the Orthodox Church. I had no idea that this was another point of division between our churches.

Honestly, I didn't know that EO didn't agree with the Sunday Sabbath. But it's true- the Church dictated that the day should be Sunday. It was infallibly declared.

From Passover to Pentecost is 50 days. The sabbath in Lev. 23:15 is the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Leviticus 23:15-16 “‘From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord.

You count seven Sabbaths (Saturdays) up to the day after the seventh Sabbath (Saturday) to make 50 days.

They were counting the the Saturday Sabbaths. Listen.

Luke 6:1 Now it happened on the second Sabbath after the first...

Jesus was placed in the tomb at dusk on Wednesday, which is Thursday night. This was the first night that Jesus is in the grave. Three nights and three days is Saturday morning. Saturday morning is the first Sabbath of the seven Sabbaths to be counted.

Mark 16:2 Very early in the morning, on the first (Sabbath G4521), they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

Just how long has Sunday worship been with us?

Justin Martyr [a.d. 110–165.]

Chapter LXVII.—Weekly worship of the Christians.
And we afterwards continually remind each other of these things. And the wealthy among us help the needy; and we always keep together; and for all things wherewith we are supplied, we bless the Maker of all through His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Ghost. And on the day called Sunday, all who live in cities or in the country gather together to one place, and the memoirs of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as time permits; then, when the reader has ceased, the president verbally instructs, and exhorts to the imitation of these good things. Then we all rise together and pray, and, as we before said, when our prayer is ended, bread and wine and water are brought, and the president in like manner offers prayers and thanksgivings, according to his ability, and the people assent, saying Amen; and there is a distribution to each, and a participation of that over which thanks have been given, and to those who are absent a portion is sent by the deacons. And they who are well to do, and willing, give what each thinks fit; and what is collected is deposited with the president, who succours the orphans and widows and those who, through sickness or any other cause, are in want, and those who are in bonds and the strangers sojourning among us, and in a word takes care of all who are in need. But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ our Saviour on the same day rose from the dead. For He was crucified on the day before that of Saturn (Saturday); and on the day after that of Saturn, which is the day of the Sun, having appeared to His apostles and disciples, He taught them these things, which we have submitted to you also for your consideration.

God be gracious to me a sinner.

God be gracious to me a sinner.

How long has homosexuality been with us.

Genesis 19:4-5 But before they retired for the night, all the men of Sodom, young and old, came from all over the city and surrounded the house. They shouted to Lot, “Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!”

Does this make it right according to the will of God?

That doesn't answer the question. (Nor is it a good comparison.)

When did Sunday worship start, in your opinion? When did it all go wrong.

God be gracious to me a sinner.

Sunday observance is a byproduct of sun worship. It's called, "The Venerable Day of the Sun". Sun worship has its origin in Babylon. Since the Beast of Daniel and Revelation draws its beliefs and practices from Babylon, Sunday would be the day for the followers of the Beast or his image would enact Sunday as their day of worship. Sunday came to be the official day of rest first through Constantine and then it was adapted by Papal Rome and Christianize.

This was all prophesied by God in Daniel and Revelation. Sunday, as the Lord's day, in not founded on Scripture, but rather, the tradition of Papal Rome. Those who rejected this change to the will of God were persecuted, tortured and killed. The dragon does not want people obeying the will of God because obedience to God is foundational to true worship and godly love. Since Satan desires to be worshiped as the Most High he needs to draw people away from the will of God and into his own form of worship, which has it origin in Babylon.

History of the Christian Church, Volume II: Ante-Nicene Christianity. A.D. 100-325. - Christian Classics Ethereal Library

As to Pliny’s famous letter to Trajan, written about 107, it proves the rapid spread of Christianity in Asia Minor at that time among all ranks of society, the general moral purity and steadfastness of its professors amid cruel persecution, their mode and time of worship, their adoration of Christ as God, their observance of a "stated day," which is undoubtedly Sunday, and other facts of importance in the early history of the Church.
If Rome 'made it up', why do we see historic evidence of it being the case circa 100ad?

God be gracious to me a sinner.
