  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Let's Discuss Creationism

Anyone going to mention that there are TWO completely different creation orders in Genesis? Just me?

In the [allegedly] second version (i.e., Genesis 2), how many times was Adam placed into the Garden?

Genesis 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Not the sort of order I meant

You're more than welcome to give your POV here.

You don't have to summon someone else to do it for you, do you?

And speaking of your opinion: how many times was Adam placed into the Garden in Genesis 2?

The real question there is why it is stated twice, and so close together

Sounds to me like you don't want to discuss it.

You want someone else to do it for you.

And that is, of course, your prerogative.

Even you must have noticed that the bible can be weirdly repetitive, especially in the Old Testament. I am just trying to find a good source that has both creation orders on the same page is all, I do want to discuss it.

THE BIBLE SAYS IT, THAT SETTLES IT

The problem with this stance is there is a very wide range of opinion on what the Bible actually says.

It seems to be very clear English to me. I mean you can understand my first sentence, can't you or do you have a wide range of opinion on what I just said?

You are going to have to give me a little better hint of what you are talking about. I was discussing AV's tag of THE BIBLE SAYS IT, THAT SETTLES IT.

This exchange doesn't make a lot of sense. What was your first sentence?

Yes. Genesis 1:11-31. There is one order listed for the six days of creation.

And Genesis 2:7-23 doesn't touch on this at all?

Again, you sure you want to go that route?

Indeed -- Genesis 1 vs Genesis 2.

Nope, not at all.

Genesis 2 is not a description of the six days of creation. It is an overview of day 6 where God made the garden, made Eve and additional animals for Adam in the garden.

Additional animals, you say? So there were already animals present when God kept trying (and failing) to create a suitable helper for Adam?
